Most of Stevo's songs are just for the lulz anyway. I don't think he takes himself seriously and doesn't try to be anything more than a drummer because Deryck has been the songwriter since the band was formed. I don't think he ever really gets into confrontation with Deryck when it comes to drum parts either.

yeah that's true

Deryck also stated that Steve always exactly knows how Deryck wants the drums to sound like and that they nearly always have the same opinion on the drum sounds

Exactly and that's a long shot from generalizing that drummers are just robots, playing what the guitarist/songwriter tells them to. That's what happens with solo artists and the reason why I almost always prefer bands. It actually requires a lot of creative talent to be able to empathize musically.

All this talk about drummers not writing songs, Dave Grohl is a drummer and he wrote one of the lead guitar riffs and the entire melody for one song off In Utero and also wrote and sung one Nirvana song aswell.

It reminds me of some joke Dave once told, it was like, "What did the drummer say that got him kicked out of the band? 'Hey guys, let's play one of my songs!'" :lol!:

If that fails, March 26th would be cool too. :winkwink:

New Deryck interview --> http://norwichgigs.co.uk/interviews/sum-41/
Deryck wrote:"We are going to be playing different songs, that we haven’t played before, but will still put on a fun, high energy show. We should be playing an hour and twenty so will have time to fit in a lot of songs."
FUCK YES!
This is so legit. Songs they haven't played before will probably be the best set list ever, I'm assuming he means all albums pre-SBM not SBM songs. The only thing I hope is that they don't play a lot of UH songs because I'm pretty sure that's the album that had the most songs that were never played live.

What I really want to see are AKNF, DTLI, and Chuck rarities.

Stuff like:

Machine Gun
Grab the Devil
Nothing On My Back
Handle This
Heart Attack
Crazy Amanda
No Brains
All Messed Up
Mr. Amsterdam
Hyper-Insomnia
Thanks for Nothing...actually the whole DTLI album with the exception of Billy Spleen
Angels with Dirty Faces
No Reason
The Bitter End
*Open Your Eyes*
*I'm Not the One*
*88* all the way through

UH the songs that I really only want played that were never played are:
Speak of the Devil
Pull the Curtain

Songs I don't want to hear:
With Me
Best of Me - I hope they NEVER play this song.
that's pretty much my list aswell! i think i would include Summer though. Especially Machine Gun. I think it would be so fun to sing back all the "Na"'s near the end.

nah, you're completely write about your argument. if that was the case and the drummer wrote the shit on guitar in the first place, the he should absolutely get the credit. HOWEVER, stevo doesn't play any non-percussion instruments (at least seriously, he only dicks around on guitar every once in awhile). look i'm not trying to argue and get off-topic from sum stuff, but you guys gotta realize that stevo, as solely a percussionist, is NOT a songwriter. some drummers in other bands may be, but stevo isn't. he maybe an occasional lyricist, but not a songwriter.
aight, i can respect that. your first post i read made it sound like you were denouncing drummers and bassists as songwriters. which we all know is bull...

am i the only one that doesn't want to hear king of contradiction live? id rather hear confusion and frustration. or billy spleen! what do you guys got against billy spleen?!! i'd love to hear noots or reign in pain live for fuck sakes, but im not gonna wish that cause its never gonna happen!!!

they played machine gun during the underclass hero tour in the US.

oh and i had no idea that deryck self produced this album. that actually bums me out so much. this band obviously needs a producer (that showed on UH). gil norton could have really helped with this. i'm guessing he had a lot of great ideas but deryck doesn't like being told what to do with "his" songs (*see making of UH special where deryck bitches at Cone for wanting input during the recording/writing process*) so he fired him.

anyone know the exact reason why gil norton did not ending up producing this?

I think a better example for Dave would be FOO FIGHTERS

No because he is the front man of Foo Fighters but he was only the drummer in Nirvana.

You're not, as long as we get a drumsolo somewhere else that is. I'd also rather hear CAFIMT or even Billy Spleen just for a change, although I don't ever listen to that song at all.

I love Billy Spleen, it has some much attitude, it's just rocking.

And, it gives Tom a lead singing part, because of the "No matter what I saaayyy" flows into the "You turn your back away".

But I love KOC as well. Especially the last part of it.

Somehow I think that they are not going to play any previously unplayed song. Only exception could be Noots, since Cone keeps bringing that up every once in awhile.
So I think they are only bringing back some rareties.

They'll just play rarities, not stuff they've never played before. Best chance would be Skumfuk rather than old songs they've never played live.

All I see them probably bringing back in No Brains and Mr. Amsterdam (this song has less of a chance), and maybe earlier stuff like Machine Gun and Nothing On My Back.
