Well Tom wrote it and then Deryck made his own version of it. And the solo of the song is collaboration of both Tom's and D's ideas. So let's just say Tom co-wrote it. Demo title of the song was Panic Attack.
Tom wrote it and Deryck wrote lyrics.. and yeah the solo was a collaboration of both ideas indeed

Wow, cool. Where did I miss that? I'm pretty sure it wasn't posted in this thread.
Btw, pretty big deal for the former touring guitarist to be involved like that. I wonder how Dave feels about that now.

that cool riff reminds me very much of GOB, I like it.
But what's the song they talked in the one studio update, that was supposed to be about a car accident and Stevo or Deryck said fans would assume it's about the break up? Is that SBM aka "the song" (the single)?

The riff sounds like somthing that could have been on Muertos Vivos.

I don't think they mentioned a title.
It was just called "the new song". So it could be every single one of them.

I'm pretty sure that Dave doesn't mind Tom being involved like that.. he's really cool and if he does mind it's his own fault.. he left sum 41..

How'd you know that?
The song that was talked about is just Deryck singing and playing piano, yes.
But a ballad can have other instruments as well, why wouldn't it? So, how'd you know this song about the car crash is the one with just piano in it?
Just asking.

I think it was from one of the Warped Tour interviews. I get this feeling Cone said something about it.
EDIT:
One still-untitled song on the new record, which is expected to see release Aug. 31, features Whibley on vocals and piano and is about a horrific accident the frontman witnessed. "He got out of his car and ran over and the person was lying there dead," McCaslin recounts. "That's the one song that jumped out at me. It's a pretty heavy song."

It makes me curious, hearing a piano-song being pretty heavy.
It excites me.

I think so too. I've been up to date with everything but interviews for this new album. It's pretty bad!

Don't worry, you're not the only one who didn't know this little piece of information either! I knew it was like an out of body experiance thing, but i didn't know it was a true story or that Deryck was involved some how. Must of been horrible to witness such a thing.

I was more interested in the mcr announcement tbh. There hasn't been anything new about the album for months.

"It's just us being as loud as we can be, screaming about how we don't give a fuck about anything else other than ourselves!"
I cannot wait to hear this album.
