Tbh I'd be surprised if a green day song made the radio in Scotland these days. RnB and all that shit is notorious round here... I highly doubt Screaming Bloody Murder will be remotely mainstream in any way. Which proves it will be great :DChapStick wrote:its different in England, i quess they started out mainstream with All killer no filler where there 3 singles made top 40 and faded back out the limelight with each album.Underclass hero was the only video from that album that managed to get on any of the music channels and it did nothing chart wise.

I saw Walking Disaster and With Me videos on Kerrang/Scuzz.ChapStick wrote:its different in England, i quess they started out mainstream with All killer no filler where there 3 singles made top 40 and faded back out the limelight with each album.Underclass hero was the only video from that album that managed to get on any of the music channels and it did nothing chart wise.
I do agree with you though. With AKNF they were reasonably big. Alot of people liked them. On the radio and TV - also there was an advert for AKNF on TV. With DTLI? I only saw the mimed performance of Still Waiting on TV. Chuck and Underclass Hero have had about the same coverage here where the only way you hear their songs are very rarely on the radio and the music videos on TV.
It says it all really when on a night out, you'll get Fat Lip and possibly In Too Deep... even at a pop punk music night.

I'm hoping their new album would be big on TV and iTunes. When I tell my friends about Sum 41 the only song they think about is Fat Lip. Sum 41 is nowhere near Fat Lip style anymore.

Re: "Screaming Bloody Murder" Discussion!
peopleeeeee ! today I had a feeling that I have to watch some old live performances by Sum 41...so I've watched Live in Tokyo(my favorite concert by Sum 41,and one of my favs of all time),then Go Chuck Yourself(another perfect one) and Summer Sonic 03 ( Mr.Amsterdam,Still Waiting)...I was thinking about one thing ...these performances has been the best ones for me ..I think that was the time when Sum 41 rocked the most !
and the reasons are simple ...Chuck and DTLI? ...do you guys think that if SBM will be as dark, fast and aggressive as the guys keep saying we'll get to see another dark and aggressive show ???you know ...like Mr.Amsterdam at Summer Sonic 2003

Allright, this is a translation of a french interview that a found on the Sum 41-wikipage. It was originally a french interview, but since a speak a bit of french, i'll be able to translate the major part of it. For the french people here: I know it won't be 100% complete and correct, but I'm sure i'll get the main messages.
The upcoming Sum 41-record is not being released on the 31st of August, the First single won’t be Scumfuck and Gil Norton was not the producer.
We had the chance to discuss the new record for a few minutes so we could ‘validate’ a bunch of rumors that were flying around on the internet and were represented as news.
Steve Jocz, alias Stevo, drummer of Sum 41 has put some things straight during an interview with Le Journal de Québec, after their Canadian show.
Rumor 1: Screaming Bloody Murder, the fifth studio-album, is set for the 31st of August.
“False. The release date is not yet set and although the songs are recorded and we’re very impatient to let you hear the result, I guess we’re in for a late 2010, early 2011-release.â€Â
“We still have to mix, master, take some pictures, make a videoclip and many other things to do. But from there, it’s up to the label when they wanna release it†says Stevo, who said the fans will find a Sum 41 swimming in different waters.
“The album is heavy, intense, aggressive and dark. But there are still some sections that are lighter, other ones softer. It’s very eclectic.â€Â
Rumor 2: The first single is named Scumfuck.
“False. It’s not a single. Actually, it appeared on the Vans Warped Tour Sample as a sort of ‘prelude’†[Well, you all know what he means]
This being said, the fans who are [were] on the Québecshow may hear a new thing.
“Doing the Warped Tour, it only gave ons 30 minutes so we just played the songs most of the people know. But since we’re a headliner in Québec and since we’ve been doing the Warped Tour for a long time, we might play a new song†Stevo continues.
Rumor 3: The proudcer of Screaming Bloody Murder is Gil Norton, known for his collaborations with The Pixies, Echo & Bunnymen and Foo Fighters.
“Again, false. Norton was in the studio, but it didn’t work out so well, so he was only there for about a week.â€Â
“It just didn’t work out, so we parted ways. Gil is a great guy, but we had the feeling of ‘If we want this album to sound the way we want, it’s better to produces it ourselves.’ “

What does the producer actually do, in comparison with the label?

Re: "Screaming Bloody Murder" Discussion!
basically guides the band in creating/recording the songs. the band and the producer discuss the direction they want to take the recordings and the sound they want the final project to have. Norton, having produced some great rock records, could have provided a decent rock influence in the album and made it a great album like Foo Fighter's Colour and Shape. but since underclass, deryck hasn't wanted to list to anyone else as to what the sound of the album should be. and i think thats a bad thing, sometimes outside influence can lead to great things.

Re: "Screaming Bloody Murder" Discussion!
I'd have liked Norton to produce the album as well, surprised it didn't work out! Not sure if this is a good thing though because I kind of wish someone else had produced Underclass Hero.

Re: "Screaming Bloody Murder" Discussion!
I think its funny some sources are still saying Aug 31st is the release date, makes people come on here and think they have news
I have no idea when its coming out, but if I was the label I'd release it in March. In order to finish this years touring, get the album art ready, release a single, make a music video, and get promo ready, that month seems to be the logical choice. You just don't release albums in December, not really November either. And I don't think they can get everything ready by October.
Just my opinion
