On reflection, while Oh Love does kinda grow on you, Stay the Night would have been the perfect choice for first single. Most GD fans have already heard it in a rough 2-year old live form, and it's probably going to be one of the best songs on the trilogy. For a first single, it was a really bad move to pick one of the slowest songs on the album. Loads of fans have completely lost interest in UDT, even though there's plenty of evidence of great work.

EDIT: Here are 13 short instrumental clips of upcoming songs. Oh Love is among them. It doesn't even compare to the rest! Easily the worst clip there. No idea why it was a single.

Not sure what to think of the track just yet. I don't think the right fit was for it to be a first single. I'm sure it'll grow on me, but I know they'll be better songs to come!

Check out Green Day's 'official' live video of the 2nd/3rd single, Let Yourself Go!
Sounds a lot better than Oh Love; has a great pace, and I can hear a little Insomniac in there. Bab's Uvula Who anyone?

Can't say I'm such a big fan of this one either.. although the guitar solo was a pleasant surprise

Based on what I've heard since Oh Love, I kinda have lost interest. I'll listen to the albums..but I'm not looking forward to them as much as I was.

On a related note, Kill the DJ will be the next single, with a tentative release of 14th August.

Yeah, in proper version the chorus goes:

Someone kill the dj
Shoot the fucking dj
...
Shoot the fucker down

and then there's some fucks in verses too!

Yeah, thats what i thought, cause i have the live version as a mp3 and thats how it goes so i was confused and a lil let down at this studio one. hopefully when they release it as a single soon they will have the explicit studio version that i can buy. :silly:

What happened?? In 2009 Walmart asked the band to release a clean version of 21st Century Breakdown so they could sell it. The band told Walmart to fuck off.

Oh yea! THIS is the Green Day I wanted! :glad: Not that "Oh Love" shit!

It's really a completely different sound from Green Day. It's so different from anything they've ever done before. This song restored my hope for the trilogy.

Not a fan of "Kill the DJ", but it is better than "Oh Love".
