Everytime is see a comment in this topic I think that there's some type of new news, but nope. Oh well we better hear something from the sums soon, this is starting to become a little annoying now.

I talked to Matt today. He said that the guys want the song out now but "boneheads" at the label are getting in the way.
He also told me this is the last album they have (by contract) with Island Def Jam. The band wants to leave the label because Island only cares about rap and pop.

well yeah I've been saying that the label sucks and they should leave them for a while now.

Hopefully they switch to a label like Epitaph.

looks like the fun at IR is over for sum 41.. I remember reading an interview where they told that the CEO or some other guy at IR would pay for any damage they caused or bail them out of jail as long as they videotaped everything they did

THey should go independent. That way they can release music whenever they feel like w/o the pressure from a god damn record label.

Being independent is A LOT of work.

And it costs a lot. Tom's last album love was paid all by him because he wanted to release it without a label. Did you find out when they HOPE it'll be out?

Thank god its their last album on Island.. this label is shit for them! They barely promoted them with UH, and they only cause shit for them with this album.. remember Deryck wanted to release a song on his own Myspace and it fell through cuz of the label? and now the band want to do this pre-single release stuff with the 12 min song (much like March of the Dogs I guess) and the label is giving them shit, plus its the label that delays the release now cuz they want the right timing and shit, so I hope at least they put effort in the promotion this time, not like with UH.
Anyway, I could totally see Sum 41 better off with some cool punk label like Epitaph. A lot of cool bands are doing great there.
I think the only rock artists left on Island now except the sums are Bon Jovi, Def Leppard and The Killers. All other artists on Island are crap rap/pop like Rihanna, Mariah Carey, Tokio Hotel, Amy Winehouse and fuckin' Justin Bieber.

Epitaph or Fat Wreck would be so cool, and I'm 100% positive that Sum 41 would reach new musical milestones with either of those labels. I guess that could give them some credibility within sum41 haters too, which, are quite many sadly.

It is going to be weird for them to leave island. I mean, most of their albums was released by the island record company. At the same time, if it means no more of this bs. Then I am happy for Sum 41 and hope they find a better label for future releases.

Yeah fuck Island for trying to make money. They're a company and with the state the record industry is in right now they need every succesful artist they can find. They jump on the latest trend. They did the same thing when they signed Sum 41 back in 1999, blink had just made it big and the pop-punk trend was hot. Now the pop trend is the thing and that's why they have those bands. Sum 41 is lucky they got signed to a major right away. Island helped them a lot allthough admittely they should probably move on to a label like Epitaph or Heart and Skull.

to be honest, I think there is a very high chance that this album won't ever get released, at least under island. they might have to break away and start all over. just look at what happened to hanson when they were on island.
