to be fair, i do love the UK. lol. there are far far worse and poorer countries i could be living in, i have to be greatful for the life i have been given and for the lifestyle my parents have given me. and for certain reasons, i would reccomend coming to the UK, mainly for Bobbyjames, he is a national treasure.

if they want it to work, they should do the complete opposite.
lower the age limit, make it ok for kids to drink. and their parents should force them to drink.
then they wouldnt wanna drink in order to act cool, cause if their parents make them do it, its automatically not cool.

the law here says u have to be 18, the whole 25 thing is probrably the shop trying to protect its self from the hefty fining you get for selling to underage people, coz lets face it, who hasnt used a fake ID? :P

when we were like 15, my mate used to use his brothers ID to get us booze. they looked identical, only his brother was like 19. it worked every time.

same thing happened here a few months back. Couldnt watch the news without hearing the words binge drink and alcopop. As a result they upped the tax on alcopops (pre mixed drinks) making them shit expensive. This was SUPER effective in stopping binge drinking ... instead of buying small pre mixers with tiny amounts of alcohol content everyone now buys big bottles of straight spirits instead coz its cheaper. Well done government!
Also apparently now anyone who drinks more than four drinks a day is a binge drinker... which is ridiculous because, correct me if i'm wrong, but bingeing is when you dont drink for an extended period of time (say a week or more) then go drink an excessive amount in a really short period of time. Drinking an excessive amount on a daily basis (such as our super smart government's example states) is more alcoholism territory...

Here's what is happening in Scotland the now, as far as I'm aware it is not happening in the rest of the uk just yet.

The legal age is 18, but if you look under 25 you are asked for ID, but if it is on a weekend and between the times of 3pm & 10pm they will not sell it, this is to reduce the amount of drunken teenagers about. But in fairness it is working to a degree.

So basically If I went to the shop at 5pm on Friday, they would not sell it to me because of the "curfew", but I just go down to the pub anyway cause they can still sell whenever they like.

I'm not 100% sure that this is working in England, Wales or N. Ireland cause I know it was being tested in Scotland first like most things, I.E the Smoking ban.

^^that is the first ive heard about it, so im guessing England havnt tried this approach yet. it kinda sounds like a good idea, i mean, alot of the problems arise from the supermarkets and smaller shops selling the booze dirt cheap. if it works in Sctland then i can see a simliar sort of law being introduced in the rest of the UK
