DOS hasnt really been used since windows ME anyway...

But that link Boni... Microsoft's website must be fucking packed solid... I cant get on it... But i heard somewhere only 2.5 million keys were going out?

If i can get a download of it i'll definatly be running it through Microsoft Virtual PC.

That may be true, but can bet that there will be a crack within' the first few hours.

i signed up for the beta, and i got my key, but i cant d/l it for some reason....can anyone give me links (mu) for the beta?

Then go to the Windows 7 site in my first post and click on try the beta and follow the instructions

i did that, but it doesnt download
i tried safari, mozilla, and ie. it just wont download!

edit: never mind
i tried it again with firefox and it worked lol
ima install it using virtualbox

It does, I though it would put a strain on my graphics card but I was wrong, I don't know about security wise but since it's beta I am not to bothered right now, It's not my Primary OS

i formatted my laptop and put it on there...

Its actually made quite a difference to the time it takes to boot up... i'd say atleast halved it.

And it'll run dreamweaver and photoshop together without taking a while to alt-tab...

This is the start of something good. (I might even buy this OS for once...)

I would say it shaves at least 15 seconds of the Vista boot, and a little faster than my XP

i installed it on vmware, and i must say the inferface is pretty good. better than vista. when vming, its still faster than the vista boot time

It's better than vista, performance speaking, but I never got into the new black-transparent interfaceof vista and the new taskbar of seven. It looks too vista-ish to me.

The only Vista-ish about the task bar is the STart Orb, which is mostly likely going to be there for years to come.

The taskbar kind of reminds me to back in Ubuntu days a wee bit with some shit added.

What will installing this do to my computer.. will it get rid of XP and have that.. will it mess up any of my files?

I was actually thinking the same thing. If it doesn't do anything like that then I'd try it out.

Yes, Installing Windows 7 will most likely install over Windows XP and might lose all your data, what alot of people are doing is either installing on another Hard Drive or partition for a dual-boot.

But the easiest way would be to download Microsoft Virtual PC which I use at college alot as it can be used for simulation purposes, it's a free download from Microsoft. Here is the link.

It's good bit of Software, it can even install Ubuntu if you fancy giving this a try.

NOTE: Virtual PC acts like a program as in start it from your start menu. It will not damage your existing Windows Install. If I believe correctly Jake is currently using the beta through it so if you have any question I suggest you ask him.

No but there is a program for Macs that do the same job, but I don't like Macs you ask someone else or find it on google.
