Well, not that it matters much, there is emo today too, point is... Deryck can even look like an emo (although I dont think he does especially with his spiky hair), but he can't go emo, cuz that means a total change of style for Sum 41, cuz emo is musically not that one of the band goes emo.... and if the singer/songwriter goes emo, you can say the band went emo, but Sum 41 is not fuckin' emo you know... thats the problem.

"emo" is an incorrect way to classify music. 90% of music has some kind of "emo"tion that powered the writing of the song. wether it be anger, frustration, sadness, etc. the other 10% of music has no emotion, the writer only wrote the song to get famous. "emo" should be changed to something else that matches what the music is about.

Yeah, i have to agree with that, cuz music has to have emotion especially when u write it, the problem is the way the media classifies 90% of today's pop punk and post-hardcore bands, such as Bullet for My Valentine which is hear everyone is emo... why would it be emo? while you got bands like Trivium and As I Lay Dying, same genre metalcore which nobody calls emo... why? is it b-cuz of the way the singer looks, i dunno...

Yeah, its so fuckin' stupid. The singer has a long dark hair and suddenly it makes him emo, or not to mention, it makes a band as heavy as Bullet for my Valentine which is fuckin' metalcore to be called emo, the same genre people call Fall Out Boy and Tokio Hotel.... and i dont think Bullet and Fall Out Boy sound alike...
