Yeah, i guess they kinda did it on purpose, but more of a parody of it, like, their thing is funnier and all, kinda like they did that latest photoshoot with the babies, also inspired by the beatles.

It's not a cover song, because if it was, Sum 41/Deryck would have been sued by now for copyright. You can't make a song/album and copy someone without giving credit where it's due. Enough tributes, they should have developed their own unique style by now.

The reason the Beatles seem overrated now is because they're from the 60's. Almost 50 years later you'd have to expect music to be in a different state. Another 50 years from now some kids are going to listen to Fat Lip and say, "What the hell is this shit?" Any band can be in that position, but the Beatles did a lot for music.

.....

....It's not a cover song. I said if it
was a cover, they would have been sued. Deryck basically took the exact same chords of the song, rearranged them and took the lyrics and fitted them to his own life, copy/parody of john lennon.

Yeah, and need I mention So Long Goodbye and Good Riddance?
"As time passes by, direction unknown..."
"Time grabs you by the wrist, directs you where to go..."
It's weird how two different songs happen to have both acoustic guitar and strings, incorporate the same chords, and both start the song off singing about time and direction.

exactly.
beatles songs may sound shite and cheesy (i like them tbh. listening to rubber soul right now

) but they started a musical revolution. before them, hardly any bands wrote
and performed their own music.
its safe to say that every rock band alive today has been influenced by them in some way (directly or indirectly).

(woah, when did this thread become a beatle-bashing argument?)
oh, to answer the original question, its obviously a parody, considering that deryck is a big beatles fan.

I don't understand what you're asking either.
Sum 41 doesn't get sued because they don't cover songs and pawn them off as their own.
That's why things such as the Bullet in the Head cover and the Elvis "That's Alright Mama" cover were not included in the Go Chuck Yourself album, because there's not really any disclaimer during the show that it is a cover, people just have to assume.
