It was a good album but not my favorite, partially because I over anticipated the album and was expecting some end-all be-all album. But good nonetheless.

Sum 41 is currently taking a break to prepare new songs for their upcoming album, which should be out by late 2008 or early 2009.

That's not right, isn't it?
That's nearly impossible!

Wikipedia really isn't that credible of a source, plus "late 2008" isn't too far away and it took Deryck 10 months to write songs for Underclass Hero.
Another thing, I don't think Underclass Hero really showcased a lot of the best parts about Sum 41. Deryck slacked off on guitar riffs and Cone's creativity with the bass was weak for this album and some of that had to do with Deryck. On top of that, many songs share the same chord progression and vocal melodies.
Deryck has to go back to writing riffs and let Cone be creative.
And for the record
All Killer, Infected, Chuck > Underclass Hero

Well yeah, the year 2007 concerning Sum 41 was a linked with many disappointments. Nevertheless I enjoyed the concert in Cologne very much in July last year, although Tom played not very well and fucked up the Hell Song Solo, like some times before.
For the future I hope, they'll leave the route of mainstream music and create their own style, as they did before with their other 4 albums...and they'll defenately need a real producer!

yeah agreed. even though some songs of chuck sound like imitations of others the sums still created a sort of sun genre of punk rock/metal and that was quite original. i definitely think that they should get another producer or else deryck will start devloping a god complex and not see parts where to album could be better (i.e let cone play what he wants)

Well, Underclass Hero was pretty great, but i guess i liked DTLI more, although when i think about that, i think i maybe liked UH more than Chuck in the end, i dunno, but one thing is sure and that is that AKNF, DTLI > UH
UH and Chuck are pretty much on the same level for me. and about the time, yeah, i can't believe time went so fast and its already a year since UH was released

Lets get it right people:
DTLI > Chuck > AKNF > UH > HHOF
Anyways, yeah, Sum 41 needs a producer. I got no problem with Brown Tom when Sum 41 played in Toronto. He's a good guitarist but Brownsound is unbeatable. BTW, wikipedia is the most unreliable account of anything. I wouldn't anything off it and expect it to happen.

This album was really a disappointment for me. I feel like the band took a step back instead of a step forward. In fact, they took more than a step back. They made a more mature and mainstream version of All Killer No Filler. Rather than making an album about fun and parties, they chose to make an album full of all the recipes of todays poster bands. They took a number from Green Day's book and wrote some political songs, along with a dash of personal songs, or "emo" songs, as the mainstream would call them. In all of this they forgot to do something that is huge for any Sum 41 fan, and that is the awesome beginning riff. Songs such as "Fat Lip" and "The Hell Song" are perfect examples of that. Those two opening riffs just make you smile and say "man this rocks". Well, it makes me say that anyways. The album all in all is decent, but it has very little lasting power for anyone who doesn't think everything Sum 41 does is the best thing alive. If you're not putting your biased opinion in front of everything, you will realize that this album just isn't the best album this band could make... especially coming off of an album like Chuck, that had such a different influence to it.

same, tho i hope the next year or so goes quick, so it won't seem as long til we get the next album (they better fuckin make another album, lol)
it wont, though.
as soon as sum 41 confirm they are making a new album, each day until its release will be like a year
maybe they should do a radiohead, and record it secretly

I think DTLI? > AKNF > HHOP > Chuck ≥ UH.
I now think of Chuck as a bland album. I didn't see tons of emotion in it like I see in UH. A lot of people like Chuck a lot better than UH. I agree that it is better musically but emotionally it falls short. With UH there was this sort of magic to it that felt special every time I listened to it.
