So
MTL-PHI
PIT-NYR
and
DET-COL
SJ-DAL

It's been a long time since the real Avs-Wings rivalry, but it's interesting to see how they react to each other this time.
Hard to say who I'm cheering for, but I'm hoping the conference finals would be MTL-PIT and DAL-COL.
Usually I've cheered for Avs and/or Stars, but this year Pens and Habs have had great seasons, so I think they deserve a win too.

But anyways, as long as Detroit is out, I'm happy :)
The only team I hate with passion. :P

Well... Detroit won't leave, so good luck with that. =)
The season series between Detroit / Colorado was 4-0 in favor of Detroit.
Colorado isn't that good. The only team in the West that even had a challenge was Dallas. Colorado / Detroit / San Jose should have taken out the team they played in 4-5 games. None of them were able to do that.

Yes, I'm aware that Minnesota was a higher seed than Colorado... but they really weren't that good.

Wings over Aves
Stars over Sharks

Flyers over Habs
Pens over Rangers.
And I know I said I needed space,

but I know I can't be comfortable in my own skin.

So when I say I'm scared to be alone, you know I mean it,

I'm just not ready to leave my room.

Why do you think all the stats are restarted? Why do you think the wings have claimed the president's trophy 3 times in the last 5 years, but have failed to win the cup since '02? Playoffs is a fresh start.
Laxman 41 wrote:Yeah Wings are my team and their going all the way this year. The Avs suck major balls, they played a crappy, injury-ridden Wild team and they think they're hot shit. The Sharks have lost all their momentum and are flopping. In the east Montreal barely beat Boston, I don't think they would have a chance against the penguins, but I'm hoping Washington pulls off a victory, Alex Ovechkin is a BAMF.
The sharks have lost all their momentum and are flopping? They are playing the calgary flames, not the LA kings. Just because a team takes a series to game 7, doesn't at all mean they are flopping. It took the wings 6 games to eliminate the flames last year, and the 8th seeded nashville predators in 6 games this year.

I was saying that they lost all the momentum they had going into the playoffs because they were like 16-2 in there last 18 games and during game 3 I think, when the Sharks went up 3-0 in 3 minutes and lost! That kills a team. And who the hell was talking about the regular season? Of course everything changes come playoff time. I think the wings have the depth to go all the way, talent through all 4 lines. And why would you talk about last year? Teams change, you can't compare previous years teams against current teams.
I still don't agree how that "kills" a team. Plenty of teams will have a terrible game and still end up winning the series. Much like the Sharks did in round 1. Teams aren't going to be playing at their full potential every game.

There were a few references to the regular season/previous seasons before my post. The only reason I made reference to last year's results was simply to back up my point, I in no way implied that the results were going to be the same.

i don't like the Caps that much. They're not really that good... they probably will never win a cup. They'll have Ovechkin and a bunch of mediocre players for years to come probably. Semin is good... and Fedorov is decent, but he's old. They have Huet, who's a pretty shaky goaltender and probably a gamble at best. I think they should have waited another year to get good so they could have another early draft pick.
And I know I said I needed space,

but I know I can't be comfortable in my own skin.

I think the capitals were hoping to try and make a deep run this year. While they were very active at the trade deadline and have potential, they simply aren't a great team at the moment. They were the worst team in the league a matter of months ago. Sure they captured the southeast division, but its a terrible division and somebody had to win it.

Check out the NHL 08 simulation at TSN:

So far the winners/losers have been very accurat, and I agree with how it plays out through the entire playoffs.

The problem with the simulation happens in the 3rd round. The Red Wings outplayed the Sharks in almost every game they played against them. I don't see how San Jose is better than the Wings at this point.

Playing a potential 7 game series is a lot different then having a few games a year between the two clubs. Especially playing every 2nd night (usually), and the travel to and from each city. I could see either team taking the west. It's just a matter of who wants it more 8) .

I don't think San Jose makes it out of this round. Dallas was amazing against the Ducks... San Jose wasn't very good... against the Flames... who suck...

Why can't this topic just move to the Sports section?
I made it before the section was created...
