Yeah getting an official guitarist will be cool too.
And yeah i like Tom, he's not a bad guitarist, but maybe some new guitarist will give them some new or heavier sound or something.

Welll they experiment with different styles but i don't think they'd put us through the pain of going emo. New Wave would be nice. :P

Bah, the way "Underclass Hero" sounded had nothing to do with Avril.

I hope they don't try stuff like With Me, Best of Me, or So Long Goodbye again.
Don't get me wrong, I like songs in that sort of style, but for me, Sum 41 CANNOT do songs like that and make it work.
Plus, I don't really enjoy listening to sad/soppy music, it makes me feel sad/soppy.

my honest to god opinion:

not going to happen.

i'll be very surprised if they put out another album, simply because i feel the group is fractured (not because of dave): their sound is fractured, their fanbase, and i now its more about the money than being creative.

They did not make any progress as a band or to their sound from the last record.

just my opinion, i would appreciate it if you would justify your response to this if you feel you need to, instead of questioning my sexuality, morals, and taste in music.

I'm on the fence about it. I would love it they made a new one, but... I kind of don't see that happening. They're burning out... I think they may go to different bands.

If so. i would love to see Derycks new band. But it would be horrible if they broke up.

Oh I completely disagree.

Although it's not entirely obvious, it's clear that the roots of their friendship run much deeper. It's more about the inside jokes and the memories and less about the fart jokes.

For me, it seems more about the music for them than it ever was. Before it seemed more about being a band and less about making music.

Their only real problem right now is that they appear to be thinking too much. The problems with "Underclass Hero" are an evident result of over-thinking.

A main reason that they just wouldn't break up is that it would be awkward for them. They are best friends and it would just seem so off for them to be in something so intimate together one day and totally out of it the next day. They all seem happier about where they're going than they've ever been, and we've all seen Deryck and Cone's attempts at acting.

Oh. Well basically what I meant is that in the past Sum 41 has written the songs and then demoed them and then gone into the studio and recorded them officially. End of story, and the lyrics get added in somewhere.

I think spending more time on the lyrics was wise, but otherwise, they spent WAY too much time and thought on everything else. Sum 41 makes less repetitive music when Deryck is under pressure and forces his creativity out. It must be the frustration or having his bandmates around constantly or something, but it's amazing what Deryck can do when he's stressed and running out of time.

The first 3 Sum 41 albums were written over 2 months each and Chuck was written in 5 months. Underclass Hero was written over, what, 10 months? That's double the amount of time Chuck took and five times how long the first 3 took individually. Deryck probably had a million individual ideas for this album but they had way too much time to crash into each other. The songs flowed together in Deryck's mind so much that they at some points became each other.

I actually 100% agree with you. I wasn't going to post what I think in here because I didn't want to cause a ruckus, but I do completely agree with you, and I think you're probably going to need some backup haha

My argument wasn't bad, though.
