I agree, I'm not saying they are the same.
But they got that stigma attached to them right off the bat - and it never shook off, in the eyes of non-fans.
why cant sum 41 cover WHOLE ENTIRE songs?

try buying a new live cd by a band (cough cough nofx) and listing to it...and at the last song being like "well it sucks they didnt play the decline (my favorite nofx songs)...but then BAM! they play the into to the decline (once again one of my favorite songs) and i get all excited...and then...THE MOTHER FUCKER FADES OUT AFTER A MINUTE AND A HALF! that is really really really disappointing. (did i mention how dis ap point ing it was?)

first of all, NoFX are cool! they're actually not of my favorite bands but they're still very cool!
and again, yeah, being a band in the genre of such bands as blink and green day kinda made sum 41 one of them, but since they came later, nobody thought they brought something new to the genre, and they did. they are so much different than bands like Blink! i mean, looks at the development from HHOP and AKNF to DTLI, Chuck and UH, and anyway, even HHOP and AKNF, though being pop punk albums like Blink's Enema of the State , they brought so much more, like real solos and all, so the sums are not even close to blink, cuz even AKNF which is the closest album they got to blink in, is still a lot more than the classic pop punk sound Blink brought.
