First off i love both bands but must go with blink for the simple reason that thier lyrics speak to me more not to say the sums dont and not bashing deryck's writing ability i just seems that everything i go through blink has a song about it.

I enjoyed the oldschool Blink stuff when it came out.
It was fun and catchy so I enjoyed listening.
But I gotta say Sum 41, because even on the new album that I don't like - they have far FAR more talent than the 3-chord catchy powerpop"punk" stuff Blink put out.
It was fun, and catchy - that takes talent. But musically? Sum 41 have always been much better.
In my opinion.

I never really liked Blink-182 as a fan, but I did enjoy their music whever I heard it. As I kid I knew that that was the kind of music I enjoyed better than all those boy bands that flooded the television sets and airwaves.
Though as I got a bit older and Sum 41 had just come out, I didn't seem to find the joy out of that kind of music. I wanted something more edgier. I was into Linkin Park before I ever listened to the Infected album by Sum 41 and that was the album that got me into them. It was energetic and catchy, but also had attitude and that's the music I like. Plus, Sum 41 evolved much more musically whereas Blink kind of stayed the same until the end.
And no, Sumfan I didn't say all this because Asho did.
