I don't think Dave really cares about the "Brown Tom" thing. He's in his own band and it's making him happy, so there probably isn't a lot of things that Dave is going to worry about.

About Deryck saying, "We got a new guitarist who's even better, Brown Tom." I think he was just trying to keep the fans assured that Sum 41 wasn't going to suck after Dave left. Imagine if he said, "We have a new guitarist, but he isn't as talented as Dave." That would really throw things out of whack for the fans despite any truth to the statement.

Well yeah sure, i agree with that, the thing is fans read it like "we got a new great guitarist who's even better, Brown Tom" and even though Deryck states the new guitarist is better and much talented, fans know in their hearts that the new guitarist probably won't be as good, cool or groovy like Dave, so it doesn't really matter.

Yeah, apparently people were claiming of killing themselves after they heard about Dave quiting. Yikes.

I want tom to be a full member of Sum 41, but I also don't want Gob to split up, because if Gob splits up, my friend will spaz, and you do not want to kow what happens when my friend spazzes!

This thread is NOT about Tom's nickname. It's about Tom and his status with Sum 41.

If Tom became an official member, do you think Deryck will make Tom write his own lead parts?

If Tom was allowed to do so, do you think the band's sound would change dramatically? I don't really know Gob, but I have seen some of their music videos. I must say that the latest is one I'm not too fond of.

Deryck will probably continue to write all the guitar parts. Sum 41's writing process seems to be, Deryck writes the singing parts and guitar parts, so the main melodies, and then Cone writes the bass parts (which then seem to be screened and changed around a bit by Deryck), and Steve writes the drum parts. If Tom were to join the band, all he'd do writing-wise would be solos. Maybe.

Yeah, personally, I would want it to be that way too.

Yeah i'm pretty sure nothing will change in the process if Tom gonna be a full member.

I mean, even Dave didn't really got to write alot of guitar parts, Deryck himself said he wrote all and had to think if Dave would like to play it and stuff.

Maybe Deryck would let Tom write few solos or something, but that's probably it.
