personally i think the +44 album is waaay more mature than anything blink ever did. so mark has progessed

again with that emo thing...









+44 is not emo, if this is about that one sentence in the song, then there would be a whole lot more of emo bands in this world. If their music was emo, then i think they'd look emo too and act emo. (it's kinda hard imagining Mark emo tho. 8) :o )

I didn't read the entire thread...because I'm lazy.

But I don't really see the +44 album as emo. Sure, there are a few lyrics that taken alone might seem emo...but put with the rest of the lyrics, or with the music - I don't see them as emo, for the most part, at all.

I found this album to be quite fun.

And the When Your Heart Stops Beating being called emo? Have you listened to the rest of the song? It's not emo. It's saying I'll be there for the rest of your life. Or I'm going to kill you. Or there's the sexual connotation. None of which are emo, in my books.

But yeah. My opinion, I very much find AVA to be disgustingly emo and scene. And I find +44 to be mediocre at best, but they're catchy and fun - which counts for something.

Some lines SCREAM emo. but the whole album just have an outline of emo. almost trasperant though. :D they rock though and that album is one of my favorites.

But AVA are the same emo, scene-esq, mass produced garbage that is EVERYWHERE nowadays.

They aren't doing anything NEW or BOLD at all. They're copycatting all the other bands they sound EXACTLY like.

Not saying +44 is anything new...but it's different than most music nowadays, as it's upbeat - and 90% of modern music is just the opposite right now.

I don't hear the underlying emo tone you speak of. At all.

Perhaps it has to do with the fact that different people define "emo" differently.

To me, a song (or band, or album) isn't emo just because they have emotional songs. As someone mentioned before - ALL SONGS ARE EMOTIONAL.

To me, if it's whiney and sad and feeling sorry for yourself and "omg life is sooo harrddd omggggg" - it's emo.

I don't hear any of that in the +44 album *shrug*

the whole "emo" thing is so stupid. i really coudlt give a fuck as to what is emo or not these days, pretty much everthing is emo in some way at the moment. its stupid

OMG yeah AVA are so emo because they are influence by The Cure and U2, those bands are soooo scene!!!111

Well Emo as we all know is short for EMOTIONAL and when hoppus wrote this record he was going through the most emotional time in his life he lost his best friend of 13 years (Tom) whom jus broke up thier mega popular band and wouldnt you be a little emotional in that life changing event and that is largly going to be released in your music so forgive a man going through a life changing event for being emotional, if you really look at +44's lyrics they are the best hoppus has ever written if catchyer music was put to those lyrics +44 would be unstoppable. garuntee that thier next album wont be in the least bit emo.

My oppinion on both bands is that they suck. I wish at least one of them could have said screw Tom/Mark and just let the whole break up go. No It Isn't sounded like one of the best songs on the +44 album, but only because it was just that bad. It Hurts was one of the best songs on the first AVA album, but only because it was just that bad. The Adventure was the only song on the AVA album worth being a single, WYHSB is the only song on the +44 album worth being a single. +44 sounds KIND of like Blink without Tom, and Blink without Tom is nothing. AVA sounds like U2 wannabe's with crappy lyrics & a vocalist that needs equipment to make his voice sound like it isn't forced. Neither sounded overly EMO to me, but neither sounded good enough to get that label either.

at least the people in AVA want to be there, AVA has passion. travis doesn't even like +44..its just another thign for him.

That is the one good thing about AVA, they have passion.
+44 definitely needs a new drummer, Travis just doesn't fit in.

i love the song no it isnt and i guess im emo but not like cut wrist people call me emo though lol
