No. The punishment would be hell (if you're Christian). And anyways, commit is a synonym to "to do." And anyways... "I am about to suicide" or "He suicided" don't sound right. The other term would be "I am about to kill myself" or "He killed himself" but that sounds too graphic/strong, IMO.

No, I'm not gonna leave it here. The basic meaning of the word commit is to do. You can't change that. Anyways, if you say "I am about to kill myself" or "He killed himself" it sounds wrong. Killed is the word you use when you mean you ended someone else's life. Also, if you use the term "To take your life" a murderer could simply say "I took his life," I would think about that as him being the reason why that certain person commited suicide, if what you are saying is right. And anyways [Christian side coming out here] a lot of church hymns and songs have the term "God, please, take my life."
