this is kinda off topic but you shouldnt say 'commit' suicide anymore because its not a crime. it used to be but not anymore. they realised how stupid a crime it was!! like whats the punishment! you're dead!!

No. The punishment would be hell (if you're Christian). And anyways, commit is a synonym to "to do." Nothing wrong with that.

And anyways... "I am about to suicide" or "He suicided" don't sound right. The other term would be "I am about to kill myself" or "He killed himself" but that sounds too graphic/strong, IMO.

i know but its wrong to say. the term now is 'to take your life'. and commit isnt really like to do. like you commit murder. its implied that suicide is a crime. and going to hell isnt a crime.

im going to leave this now but i know im right. my mum was involved in mental health in her school(shes a teacher) and they won the national contest talking about it. public speaking. bitch got to go to brussles!! so ya just think about it. kill yourself is too crude and commit implies a crime to to take your life is better imo

theres no wrong way to say it, there MIGHT be a politically correct way...

but what if you say i am committed to killing myself. your not implying any sort of crime, it just shows what you want to do.

i meant politically correct when i said right. if you are commited to killing yourself it has nothing to do with the term 'commit suicide'. commit has more than one meaning. if you read my posts i think ive covered all topics so im leaving it now. i know im right about this so ya, this is going nowhere. back to owen wilson

No, I'm not gonna leave it here. The basic meaning of the word commit is to do. You can't change that. Anyways, if you say "I am about to kill myself" or "He killed himself" it sounds wrong. Killed is the word you use when you mean you ended someone else's life. Also, if you use the term "To take your life" a murderer could simply say "I took his life," I would think about that as him being the reason why that certain person commited suicide, if what you are saying is right. And anyways [Christian side coming out here] a lot of church hymns and songs have the term "God, please, take my life." Would that mean they are asking to be killed?

The correct term is 'to commit suicide' and you can't change it.
