Linkin Park has been making quite poppy and radio friendly music since 2000...
And by radio friendly, I mean designed to please as many of the mainstream audience as possible and make money- regardless of consideration for fans.
That's exactly what LP is designed to.

You know, pop = popular. LP is quite popular, I guess. Plus pop doesn't only mean brtiney spears, miley cyrus, justin bieber, etc.
"... "pop music" may be used to describe a distinct genre, aimed at a youth market, often characterized as a softer alternative to rock and roll."
Does LP aim at a youth market? Yes. And they play soft rock? Yes.
So, my answer is: the whole Hybrid Theory and Meteora are poppy. Although I still consider them as nu metal albums.

LP soft rock? No fecking way. They are heavier than sum 41's metal stuff.

they have always been quite accessible though, that's what people mean. some of their old stuff may be fairly heavy, but it was still given shit loads of air time and people loved it. they were one of the biggest selling recording artists of the noughties.

Yeah, they're pretty soft. And no, it's not heavier than Sum 41. Maybe it sounds that way, because Chester screamed sometimes, but the instrumental parts are incredibly boring.

I get bored with people claiming Linkin Park are "selling out" and have gone too "commercial". when were Linkin Park not commercial? their first record deal was with a major label, their debut album was a international hit selling millions of copies in it's first year, they were all over the radio & TV. they were never an "underground band", they;ve had success right from the word go.

Same story goes for sum 41.
