I'd assume whenever the shows started to be scripted. Then they would only do a random ad lib here and there.

Haha, i just got this random picture of them sitting in the dressing room and Deryck handing out scripts to them.
"Hey why don't we have any lines in this show?"
"Who's the lead singer?".
