Because Tom's guitar is an icon, for it is the "Sum 41" guitar. Deryck had been using that Les Paul since very early in their career. It's very remarkable and I'm sure it plays like a dream. And Deryck has his own badass signature guitar- so why would be want to change? As for Cone- He just plays P-Basses. He has the white one (his primary), and the black one with the red pickguard (his secondary).

Deryck doesn't change what works for them live. I also don't think Tom really has much input for what he plays live; he'll just go by what's best for the band via Deryck. Cone has used the same two basses for a while now, hasn't he? Anyway, what I'm wondering is how it's already so beat up!

I think Cone does that on purpose, it's like his signature.

He only said it's a new guitar for touring, never said it was a completely new guitar, could have had it for years and that's why it's beat up...

beat up guitars/basses look cooler.

It's cool that Cone uses a slightly beat up bass. Rough music = Rough bass.
Yeah i wouldn't be happy if Deryck changed guitar (unless he comes up with something completely cooler) since I've also worked hard to replicate his guitars for a well spent amount of money

And about Tom's guitar i think that he actually has much more input than what might be spoken of, just that he probably love that guitar since it's very special.
