Winter solstice - longest period of darkness
vernal (spring) equinox -day/night are same length
Summer solstice- longest period of light
autumnal equinox -day/ night are same length
that's for north america, i don't know about the rest of the world. shouldn't it be different for each hemisphere because of the earth's axis?
