Yup, he was injured in Calgary and painlessly appeared in LA.

He's clearly in pain. If you're going to be this much of a dick about this, I will happily show you the door. I don't care if you think he's faking, but all you have done over the past 2 days is stir up trouble and we don't need someone like you on the boards.

I'm sorry, but you can't tell how much pain someone is in by pictures, if there is any at all. Why can't people just accept that Underclass Hero didn't do as good as he thought it would, ticket sales are down and he just doesn't feel like playing at an empty show.

Um, yes you can, and it doesn't take a genius to do so. It's all in the face and posture.

The atmosphere would've been fine and he knows that. Sum 41 doesn't need a sold out show to be comfortable with playing.

Well, as much as i agree and i'm sure he's not faking it, i have to agree with Blastero, very nice post, man!
we really cant be sure in 100%, although i'm taking Deryck's side anyway. i think i can still trust him.

I just wanted to add, about the "live" CD that...well you all know it's true. I was just going to add that I distinctly recall at that show thinking, and saying aloud to those I was with, that Deryck has never sounded more chipmunky in a show ever.

His voice was terrible (he was fresh off one of his supposed throat catastrophe's at this point).

And when I popped in the CD when I first bought it, I was like "WHAT THE FUCK!?" immediately.

Pretty retarded to release a "live" CD that's almost entirely recorded in studio, in my humble opinion. But I don't blame them - they didn't sound that good that specific show, compared to normal from back then.

Thanks, and also thanks to Asho and folks. I wasn't sure how my post would be recieved. :D

I too kind of like to give Deryck the benefit of the doubt. I don't see why I need to be overly suspicious. I just like to keep my mind open when appropriate.

Yeah, his voice was pretty bad in that show, judging from the HLS DVD and the Sympatico videos. Especially in Still Waiting, which was just absolutely horrific.

Yeah.

And the Sympatico videos are pretty terrible in terms of sound. Sounds like Deryck just threw the words out there in that show and didn't care. Must've been why they scrapped having a DVD and opted for the live CD.

I don't consider stating the truth about the sound at a certain show being bashing.

I loved Sum 41 with all my heart and soul when I saw that show - fact is, it was probably their worst show I've ever seen.

I don't know about other people, but I'm certainly not saying they suck live. Quite the contrary. Just that show wasn't their best, and it's lame that they re-recorded it and still released rather than just scrapping it and recording another show for the release.

Well, Sums are not the first to do almost 100% studio recorded "live" albums.
almost every band does it today, well, i mean, every band DOES some technical stuff and mixes the sound and making it sound a lot better than it is, cuz... they want their live albums sound as good as a real recording, like in studio, and in live it's never like that, and to say the truth, Sum 41 is one of those bands who never lose their real sounds in live shows, but hey.. no band had ever 100% good shows all their career.

Guns N' Roses for example released a faux live EP that everyone knows that is not live and like... it was released as a faux live CD with fake crowd chant and all, god knows why... its called "Live from The jungle" and since it release, they advertised it as a faux CD, so bands do those stuff...

And yeah, everyone knows the sound difference between the Sympatico MSN video (which gives us some really bad sound) and the GCY CD which features a really good sound.

No, the cameramen did an AWFUL job. They were constantly doing bad angles and focusing on the wrong people.

And sound quality sucked even if we gonna ingore Deryck's poor voice there.

Not really supporting my side of the argument very well, Deryck looks quite comfortable in this video (probably because he's obviously a little tipsy, but a video with Deryck talking about seeing vodka and Cirque de Soleil before the Maroon 5 concert Saturday night. Many thanks to Avril because he wouldn't have been in the video if Avril hadn't pulled his glass on screen.

It looks like he still has one of those bracelets on that the hospital gives you.
