yea i have seen this. nbc giga is a small cable tv station in germany for digital lifestyle and games. this and still waiting on TOTP are the only playback shows of sum41 i know. their studio probably wasnt made for actual band performances or something went wrong with the sound and they had to put playback on it.

(I always loved this episode)
Video: http://youtube.com/watch?v=dtehDIWrX5UFor a few years from 1991 the show adopted a live vocal to pre-recorded backing track policy. Kurt Cobain on "Smells Like Teen Spirit" dropped his voice an octave and changed the opening line to "Load up on drugs, kill your friends"; the band also made it very clear that they were not playing their instruments. (Kurt later said during an interview that he wanted to sound more like Morrissey during the performance)  it also exposed a number of poor live singers, and was dropped as a general rule.

I knew that, but I wasn't talking about TOTP. I was trying to explain why they were doing playback on that NBC Giga show aswell, because I've never seen them doing a playbackshow except when they weren't allowed to play live.V wrote:Actually... Miming was very common on that show.
TOTP was the worst and most boring show ever, that Nirvana episode was great though :)

What I was trying to point out was that there probably wasn't any problem at all, and that they were forced to do playback anyway. ;)Simon wrote:I knew that, but I wasn't talking about TOTP.
