What happened with chuck ?

Hey everybody, i just went on ultimate-guitar, and in the news, i saw this text : "Underclass Hero marks a step in a bold new direction for the group. They're better than ever and this time no regrets."
What does it mean ? Did Deryck was disappointed with chuck ? Did he feel that he had not done waht he wanted ? I know Chuck wasn't a great success, but this "no regrets" really surprises me ...
Sorry for this stupid question, but i really want to know !

Are you kidding me? Deryck hated chuck himself even if he wrote. He wrote it to make dave happy, and he still wasnt happy, wasting an album im pretty sure he didnt want to maek in the first place. He stated before that dave's vibe during the chuck era brought them all down.

chuck is the best i think but if its true why 88 is the one of the most effecting songs on his life.

Thank you all for your answers, i always thought that Deryck was happy to make Chuck, i just thought he found it too "metal"... I didn't know Deryck hated Chuck...

Well I didn't know it either :? It does not seem right to me still. I mean I always knew it was kinda "Dave's album" but I still thought that Deryck liked it too.

I like much more Chuck than Underclass Hero by far.

I never heard Deryck say any of those things, but I can be wrong. I'm sure Phili can clear this up for us.

Deryck doesn't hate Chuck at all. In fact he's stated that some of his favorite songs he's ever written are on it.

Deryck said it was a "fucking mess" because their relationship as a band was terrible when they made the album, and there was no clear idea on what they wanted the end product to be. But I'm positive that he doesn't hate the album.

The "no regrets" thing also is probably just referencing the fact that a lot of the limitations they had during Chuck, such as Dave and bad management, were gone when they made Underclass Hero.

Pfffft...Deryck and I fought about Chuck sucking back in 2005. I said it did, he said it didn't. We discussed what I hate about it and he argued and such.

Maybe he says he doesn't like it now - but that's a load of crap.

Also - that album wasn't for Dave at all...why do you think he left the band after Chuck came out? He wasn't into the direction the band was going.

deryck once stated on the Q&A that it wasn't his favorite but the media makes it look on interviews and shit like that as if he had hated it. he actually stated on that same question that he loved pieces because he feels it's the only time he's written a real song.

I have no idea who got that misquote but, Deryck does not hate Chuck. He wrote it because it was what he was feeling at that time. Chuck was not one of my faves but it was not at all to the point of hatred.
