New Mac

Post by Nic »

I got a new iMac about a month ago. It is amazing. For all of you who use macs, what programs to you recommend for recording music besides GarageBand?

Also do you recommend any programs any mac user should have?

I'm a n00b at mac.

hahaha don't worry i'm here.

and i have some good news.

well i would totally recommend pro tools, it IS what the professionals use, in all studios. the only problem is you cannot download this, because you need the hardware to run it. you can buy the cheapest USB preamp for about 100 bucks, and they go up from there, to thousands of dollars. i have it downloaded but whenever i run it it says "please insert hardware" or whatever and it doesnt work.

there's an answer.

Logic Pro.

this is also a very professional program and is top of the line, i have it downloaded and i LOVE it, its very professional and is so good, its got everything you want, there are torrents of it and stuff it shouldn't be too hard to find, but i think i still have it on my comp if you can't find it.

Yea I actually asked Chris Holmes what +44 used to record When Your Heart Stops Beating and he said it was one of those programs that require hardware. Thanks!

yeah he used pro tools, i know because when blink was in trouble tom and mark were like sending pro tools files of demo songs over the internet to each other, before they broke up.

but also, programs a mac user should get.

handbrake - ultimate dvd ripping program (freeware, google it)

final cut pro - professional video editing, i use it, but i'm gettin in to the biz so yeah, its handy though.

Toast Titanium - ultimate dvd/cd burning program

and i'm sure theres a couple others i just can't think of them..

oh you could always get the microsoft word/all that stuff package too.

What does Toast Titanium do thats different from the already installed burn software in the iMac?

no you cannot download final cut pro for windows.

and your best alternatives would be either adobe premiere or sony vegas.

personally i like sony vegas better.

hah, sounds like something that would happen from limewire. your best bet is to get it from a torrent.

although i did a quick megaupload/rapidshare search and found these..

i know...i went to this resort in the winter last march break, and it had a beach and everything, and was so warm there even though were i live t was cold, however, instead of going to the beach, the water park, or all the other things they had like the all-day-buffet, id always be inside the free internet room, cause they had fully usable imacs.
