i was looking at the latest "NOW Thats What I Call Shite" cd, and there is not one good song that i like on it

though, compared to one that my brother had from 12 years ago - i like about half of the songs...

do we actually believe Sum wants popularity? I agree that they'd probably love some new fans, but not for sales. They want more kids for more concerts and more rock.
Most who believe that UH has "Been done before" are hiding from their true feelings because, quite honestly, everything has been done. What matters now is how you do it, how do you make it your own. Sum 41 has accomplished that and no one can take that away.

Um...pretty sure Billboard, and the any charts listed ARE popularity charts.

What do you think those charts are based on?

There's no real substance or examples where you are conclude your opinion. What you wrote is totally general and superficiel in my opinion.
with all due respect
it wasnt a review i wrote
it was my opinion about the album and the songs in general
all i wrote was my own opinion of the songs on UH and all i asked if you fdelt the same way (clearly not)
well im sorry but i dont think there is 1 bad song on that album and how can any1ns opinion be "superficiel" if it is their own opinion about wat they think?

@Mr-David-Blues: Your opinion is just superficiel, because you don't fix your opinion on any arguments. About everything I can say "Oh well this song is great because of the lyrics". But of course I get point that you just wanted to animate the others to say their opinion about UH. That's actually cool!
But I mean this whole discussion overall in this thread is totally senseless, because it's leat on such a superficiel and global level, from my point of view.
Just after some posts it already got off topic...it just would be cool, if we really could discuss about each song, musically lirically und not just "Oh...well it's a good album, I like it, the sky is blue, the sun is shining"
It's not my negative attitude towards you Mr-David-Blues, it's towards many people here, who just say so much stuff but doesn't mean anything!
And I don't wanna act like an moralizer. The next days I'll write an extensive review About UH, which will be critical and even not representing the opinions of many people here in this forum. But it'll be a better way to really come to a discussion with substance and not something like this!

Gunner wrote:The album as a whole, listening to it from beginning to end, you can tell there was a lot of thought put into it this time around. Saying that, it's nice to see there isn't a single "fake" in any of the lyrics and "blame" is only said in two songs.

But it's too repetative, musically, I believe. Same chord progressions and songs on the album sharing the same melodies. And that one note (2nd fret, 5th string, I forget the name) is played in a lot as a single note. If anyone is wondering what I mean, it's the note being played at the beginning of March of the Dogs.

I do like all the songs on the album. But it's stuff that's been done before and that's something that really bugs me. There's very little to no originality.

The note is B. Theres only eight notes in music and how many chord progressions can you come up with? The biggest bands in the world base almost all their music around a pentatonic or major scale with a note progression of IV - V - II or whatever it is!
Okay, but what bugs me is that they use the same progression over and over for a lot of their songs on this album. And that B note I think is overused.

I don't know. Underclass just doesn't seem as powerful to me as an album. It's well-rounded, but it doesn't stick to me like their previous albums.

I guess it's not so much what they sing about... but how they play it. The musical aspect of the songs kind of bored me. And from David Blues' review I noticed there wasn't anything said about the music. And when I mean music I don't mean solos. Hell, if 10/15 songs on this track had actual guitar riffs and no solos, I would love it. To be honest, I think the best riff is from Look At Me. I just think they make the song have more personality. Don't take this as an "I miss Dave" statement since it's Deryck that writes the riffs.

I'm just glad Deryck made up for lack of guitar with Stevo's drumming and vocal harmonies, piano and acoustic guitar. Cone's bass parts seemed cut down a bit.

okay well if it meant nothing, why have people posted? yet again my opinion only rly matters 2 me i was merely telling others what i think, yeah shure i dont think that EVERY song on UH is so much better than every other song in the world
i was only giving my posotive opinion about the songs
and no offence but the whole "i will write an exrensive review" patter sounda sounds lyk ur trying 2 be better than me
sorry but yet again that is my opinion
I just feel that ur singleing me out here
imeen Nic done something similar but about chuck and he wrote very minimal amount and yet u say nothing to him?
look sorry dude i dnt want any bad blood
end of topic?

Oh no man, I that was not my intention. I only wanna to offer e better possibility to really go into the UH Album. And my review will be different anyways from your, because I have a totally different opinion on UH.
I personally didn't recognize such a similar topic on Chuck, it was just the current thread, in this case your thread which was having my attention.
It's really nothing against you, it's cool if people have the same opinion, but with no arguments, I cannot really comprehend why the really like that album.
Btw I didn't say that every UH Song is better than all the songs of the world.
End of topic!

I like Speak of the Devil and Pull the Curtain the best. The Jester is good too, but it's too short and I hate the 20 seconds after the song. I think 10 could've sufficed.
