I think he does since he's telling basically about his life and all and how he never knew his father and his mom couldn't understand him as a teenager and stuff like that and the confusion and frustration, so yeah, i think it's obvious he is the Underclass Hero, which is interestiing since they could call the album Underclass Heroes instead but they didn't.

underclass hero the name referss to the bands situation before recording the album. as in, they were all on thier own, they lost Dave, they lost like accountants and all that sorta shit and they started from scratch. however, i think thats pretty stupid as they would sell records regardless of the quality of the music cause they are an established band. also, its not as if they didnt have enough money to hire new people that they sacked. and they still have all the necessary things such as quality instruments and god recording studios to do the album..

That's true. I think a band like Nirvana would've been better qualified for the term "Underclass Hero."
Deryck said that it was a mutually good thing that Dave left. So that being said, Dave leaving doesn't really qualify as being a contributing factor to the band's "lowest point." So mainly, it was just the firing of the management (the band's idea) and the mental states of the band members that brought them to their lowest point.
The story would be a lot more epic if Dave was actually a contributing member of the band, yet quit anyways forcing Sum 41 to make up for his departure by firing their management and thus resulting in a #1 hit song reminiscent to Fat Lip.

Heh, when I first heard that Sum 41's new single was "The Under Class Hero" I was so excited because it sounded so original and cool.
Then a couple weeks later I'm driving and I hear on the radio, "Here's Green Day's cover of John Lennon's Working Class Hero." And I was basically: Oh Em Gee for the next 3-4 minutes.
