Why not? i mean, i dont like Tommy Lee either, but Tommyland is a pretty decent album, which at first downloaded cuz i read that Deryck played guitar there.

Well as guys here said, he just came off as jerk b-cuz of all of those users who started opening posts like "sum 41 gonna suck without Dave" and that Deryck couldn't not play the guitar like Dave and stuff... so i can understand from where is the anger, cuz with Dave or not, they're still awesome, and Dave is awesome by himself.

Actually, for the record, the posts negative towards Deryck started after he posted a "statement" on the board about the whole situtation...which he later deleted and pretended never existed.

Chapstick makes a good point though, with this statement:" Deryck obviously can't play all the things Dave did but i think he is still a better guitarist than alot of people realise." But I still stand by that he was out of line in what he said in his disappearing "statement".

Oh I agree. And at least he sorta realized he was in the wrong.

However, it's kinda like in court when something is said and then objected to, and "stricken from the record" - the jury still heard it, and it still made an impact.

He said Dave had nothing to do with the band. He had no influence on the sound, and he claimed that HE wrote all the guitar for hte band, and Dave just played it.

There was more, but that was what pissed me off the most.

He was slandering Dave.

And about his guitar business (SURPRIZE, I was one of the jerks haha)...well...it's true. If he can play all of Dave's guitar...why doesn't he? Why isn't there ANY guitar in the new songs? I'm just saying...

if deryck said it i believe him. why would he lie? I guess u were the producer of every sum 41's album since you know who wrote all the guitars

I know it still made an impact, but I forgave him because he clearly felt bad about it. He wanted to reassure fans, and in the process he took credit away from Dave, and he realized that and, if I recall correctly, he apologized for any misunderstanding.

And Deryck's clearly quite capable on the guitar. He's proven he can play both the In Too Deep solo and the Hell Song solo. No, he can't play the solo for the Bitter End... but Dave's fucking amazing. Hardly anyone is as good as Dave. People were saying he couldn't play the guitar, not that he wasn't as good as Dave.

I love them both. but I believe Deryck. he's the face of the band, so if he lies, and it comes out there would be hell to pay. I doubt he'll dare.
