recording programs

does anyone know of any really good free recording programs?
like a program to record from a mic or whatever.
i'm using audacity and it's amazing, but was wondering if anyone knew of anything better/ just as good.

audacity is free
but i dont think its really good quality
it depends on your microphone, really

quality mainly depends on your mic, then your sound card, the program is the least important thing.
