Just compare Gob's "Things Happen All The Time" and Sum's "Motivation".. One part is clearly ripped off from Gob's song. I was totally confused when i noticed the similarities the first time. My iTunes player just played the songs consecutively so it wasn't hard to hear the parities...

Yeah well, The Hell Song sounds a bit like How You remind Me by Nickleback and Mr. Amsterdam kinda sounds like Dammit I changed again by The Offspring at part but I don't think it's intentional. Besides, Sum's better then Gob.

Yeah, after the Bitter End slash Battery fiasco and the Scientist slash Pieces fiasco, I think people in general just became more susceptible to finding similarities to Sum 41 songs.
Speaking of which, is there a song comparison for Over My Head? It sounds like I heard that song before when I first heard it.

the bitter end sounds a lot more like Through the Never by Metallica more than Battery.

you cant be serious .. this is a joke. its far away from being a copy/ripoff, its not even really similar.
its like calling some book a ripoff because it has a sentence which contains words that have already been used before.
compare the beginning and end of misfits "attitude" cover by sum 41 to their UH bonus track "no apologies". that is clearly copied, but since its a bonus track and they covered the song before, I think its supposed to be obvious.

Well the song structure of Battery and The Bitter End are really similar. But the main riff from Through the Never sounds a lot more like The Bitter End.
As for the Misfits cover and all that, yeah, clearly copied, but from one of their covers. If they covered the song but changed it in a way that it began differently and so on and use that part that they changed in one of their own songs I don't think it should be copied. However, if the Misfits started Attitude the same way Sum 41 covered it, then there would be a problem with having No Apologies starting that way. That being said, the original Attitude and the cover sound similar, but Sum 41 has a longer beginning. So it's slightly changed, but not by much. [/ramble]

Well, to the point, about the similarities of Motivation and this Gob song.... it's not even close!
And yeah, stop checking every sum 41 song!
I mean, yeah, sometimes main riffs of songs sounds a lot like other riffs from songs of other bands... that's the music industrial.
Sum are not the only band doing riffs that we pretty much heard before.

Well i can't be bothered to download that song but i'm sure it's coincidence, i doubt Tom would be touring with Sum 41 if they majorly ripped off GOB, infact he'd probably be pretty bitter as we all know which band has had the best career.
BTW on the subject of Motivation and Ripp offs Andrew WKs song party hard totally ripped of the main motivation riff.

Why is everyone here OBSESSED with coming up with different "rip-offs". Seriously. WHO GIVES A SHIT?!
Plus, there's a 95% chance that none of this is intentional.

Yeah, about this Gob vs. Motivation, a ripoff? I can't even hear the similarities! Two totally different songs!
I think these "ripoffs" are personal opinions. Like for me, the intro of Treble Charger's "Tired Of It Anyway" sounds like the intros of Subject To Change and Underclass Hero, but still I'm not claiming them to be ripoffs. Some songs might sound same, but I think it's coincidence for the most part.
