First, I'm really glad he shared this with us, it just sucks that this is where it had to come to. It seems to be that he has got his priorities set now and he's on the mend. Look forward to a more positive update to follow!
Oh fuck. Fuck fuck. I had no idea his drinking was this serious. Good to see that he's alive and going clean from now on, but a scary thought that he could have died so easily.

After that documentary for Screaming Bloody Murder I had a feeling something like this would happen eventually. It's just lucky he didn't die straight up and has a chance to change this which I hope he does. Glad to see he's alright and letting us know what's up
I really hope he's gonna get his shit together now. At least it looks like he realises he needs to get his life back on track. I think it's good that he's so open about this. Hopefully he can now just focus on getting healthy and writing some really awesome music

This gives me the option to say something though. I never really posted on this forum because I got a pretty severe hint that on this forum you are supposed to act like everything is a-ok with Deryck even though it was blatantly obvious it was not. I know people around him so I have first hand info, but there were plenty of incidents, witnesses of his behavior that talked about it. Yet, every single time I mentioned it here I was shut down because Deryck didn't have any problem and was just taking meds for his back. I had this conversation with another fan, not here, just yesterday.
Sad that people had to hear it from Deryck himself. It was very obvious for the people who are not invested in the band but it was a no no to ever mention it among fans.

This should have come as no surprise to anyone. However, I would have never expected him to react like this. I thought he would just go on with it and keep hiding it until he dies. Good on him.
that scared the shit out of me when I saw those photos. Glad he's ok now. I don't think it will be that easy to stop right away with booze. He drank every day like he said. And it will be tough to stop drinking in a second. Hope he'll make it.
Not to be like that but any idiot could have seen this coming from a mile ago, he's been a trainwreck since the divorce. Glad he's okey though and scared straight.
Part of me is surprised that it took this long for a wake up call. The other part of me is glad that he's on the road to recovery and I hope he sticks to it.

I can't imagine they wouldn't have known about it
They knew, more than anyone else, what his situation was/is. But I think the question was if they were aware that his heavy drinking caused organ failure, he almost died and has been in hospital for a month. I don't really think they knew. It would be nice of them to send him their well wishes on social media.
Fuck, I'm glad that he's okay. I hope he does what he says, and really to realize that this is already very serious and hopefully this will inspire him to make a good album.
For me it was hard to gauge the extent of his drinking. Every time I saw Deryck with a drink in his hand it was always on an occasion where it was believable someone would be drinking (i.e. touring, recording an album with friends around, party settings... etc.) I didn't know he would drink heavily at home as well mostly because I don't know his personal life and I figured he wouldn't drink as much with his fiancé around. Not to mention that when they took a break from touring it was usually to "rest" and in my mind it meant no drinking as well. It was an "out of sight, out of mind" kind of thing.
It's good to hear he's better now and if there's any good from this collapse - beside that it was a wake-up call for him - that I'm sure it'll inspire him musically a lot.
