Dave's new band - Black Cat Attack
So apparently Dave joined another band, additionally to Brown Brigade (I don't think they're active anymore) and Organ Thieves. It's called Black Cat Attack.
The band is basically categorized as horror punk. From listening to it, it sounds like a pretty cool punk rock band with female singer.
Basically the band exists for a few years and have two EPs out already: "Lonely Horror Stories" and "Vamparty", none still featuring Dave as a band member, as apparently Dave only joined the band now, but Dave has produced and mixed both of their EPs, so I guess this collaboration began from when Dave only produced and recorded this band, and then they probably asked him to join them or whatever, as a second guitarist.

Because I'm sure he regrets quitting Sum 41. None of the bands that he joined after quitting really made much progress as far as popularity goes.sprinks41 wrote:why poor Dave?cladam41 wrote:This is good and all, but damn. Poor Dave.

I think popularity is the least of his problems, he never seemed to bother with that and the reason he quit was because Sum 41 wasn't fun anymore for him and now he only do things for himself and he seems perfecly happy with that.cladam41 wrote:Because I'm sure he regrets quitting Sum 41. Well, yeah, I mean, Sum 41 is pretty big, but at the same time, I don't think any of them except Deryck are in a position to really continue being popular and relevant without Sum 41. There's a lot of big bands when a member quits so everyone are also with their eyes on him, to see what's next for him and stuff like that.. In a band like Sum 41 I guess even when Dave left.. a little before the UH era, even they weren't that mainstream so yeah, people really weren't interested in him, although when he only began Brown Brigade, there was some interest in him and BB was covered in a lot of big music sites, even MTV Canada (they even played live on MTV Canada in 2007). They also supported Pennywise around the US & Canada in 2006.
Organ Thieves didn't get any mainstream interest and never played outside of Ontario. And I bet this band won't also ( I hope they will though, they're good) but I know Dave is mostly working in the studio now, recording and producing young bands, so he's happy doing that and that is what matters.

Music is quite catchy. I like that sub-genre, horror punk, haha. I don't think I've listened to Brown Brigade since 2007 or 2008.
If Dave really cared about popularity then he never would've quit Sum 41 in the first place. I'm sure he's surrounded himself in an atmosphere that better suits what he wants to do in music.

I believe seeing somewhere that he actually admitted that he regretted leaving Sum 41. I could be wrong.

He said something along the lines of: "of course I regret it sometimes, but that's a good thing because it reminds me of the good times I had"cladam41 wrote:I believe seeing somewhere that he actually admitted that he regretted leaving Sum 41. I could be wrong.
