Welcome to 5 years ago. No, it's not a cover, it's a tribute.
This song is tribute to all the great songwriters that have given influence to Deryck. Hence the first lines being from a John Lennon song. He also invited a Beach Boys member (can't remember who) to do the finger snapping for the song.

And why is this in Deryck thread? Why not Sum 41?
