Re: NEW Three Days Grace ALBUM - Transit of Venus
I don't listen to TDG but I actually like their stuff, 89x brought them to me.
Any album suggestions for getting into them?
And I hope you are aware that the Venus Transit is that very night and next one is in like 120 years or so. Fuckin' cloudy wheather here >_<

Re: NEW Three Days Grace ALBUM - Transit of Venus
Well, it's about time! I've been wondering when they were gonna release a new album. Will have to definately check it out.
I recommend the first two (Self titled and One-X) mostly, their last one (Life Starts Now) is okay but definately not as good as the others. I enjoyed a few of the tracks though.Faeyaner wrote:I don't listen to TDG but I actually like their stuff, 89x brought them to me.

89x brought Three Days Grace to you? What? You live in Germany and you listen to my shitty, local alt-rock station?
but I know I can't be comfortable in my own skin.
So when I say I'm scared to be alone, you know I mean it,
I'm just not ready to leave my room.

Re: NEW Three Days Grace ALBUM - Transit of Venus
Excellent, another album to look forward to! i've always been a Three Days Grace fan, their last album was good but it got old faster than i would have liked it. This seems like such a serious concept, i wonder how the lyrics have evolved. Adam has never really been a good lyricist outside of the radio rock realm, and thats what i feel this band has been missing. I hope this finally changes with this album.

Yeah their last album was not bad, but not as good as One X. This looks like it has potential!!!! wrote:Wow. I've not listened to these guys in years. Hopefully this album is better than the last.

Actually I prefer the shitty web-radio-quality over all stations that are available around, so i turn 89x on almost every time I'm at home after 4 p.m. (that's when dave and chuck's morning show ends).Big Sean wrote:89x brought Three Days Grace to you? The Screaming Bloody Murder airing-premiere brought it to me.

Re: NEW Three Days Grace ALBUM - Transit of Venus
I don't know if its available outside of Canada, but the new album is available for streaming here:

im three songs in, and so far it's better that all their albums except perhaps One-X, but it's very very good. i'll reserve judgment if it's their best ever until i hear the rest of it.

I am mostly appalled because the station is full of shitty music.Faeyaner wrote:Actually I prefer the shitty web-radio-quality over all stations that are available around, so i turn 89x on almost every time I'm at home after 4 p.m. (that's when dave and chuck's morning show ends).Big Sean wrote:89x brought Three Days Grace to you? Re: NEW Three Days Grace ALBUM - Transit of Venus
After the first listen, my favorites are "Give In To Me" and "Misery Loves My Company". The intro riff in "Happiness" sounded very familiar. So far, I'm not impressed with this album.

Adam Gontier has quit the band. Brad's (guitar) brother who is the singer for "My Darkest Days" is replacing him on the upcoming tour dates. They cite a "non life threatening health issue" for Adam's reason for quitting. This situation is sad and odd for me as a fan.

Re: NEW Three Days Grace ALBUM - Transit of Venus
This news has shocked me, i cant believe he just up and left, i dont know if the band will ever be the same without him. Matt Walst sounds ok but hes definitely is not even close as good of a singer as adam i listened to the re recordings of some of the songs with matts vocals and he needs autotune to match up and hit some the notes that adam sings.

Adam left the band?
Gyaaaaaah My life is ending!
Seriously, this is one of my favorite bands. I've been listening to them for years, love most of their work, I'm not sure how the band will continue without Adam, his vocals really made the band for me.
As for their new album, I think it's great, but it takes some warming up to fully appreciate, and certainly sounds different from their older work. About half the album sticks to the band's more prominent roots. Happiness, Misery Loves My Company, Chalk Outline, Anonymous, Operate, and Expectations are all great songs. The other half feels a bit more low tone and soft than the rest, and these didn't quite hit home for me. Sign of the Times, The High Road, Give in to Me, Give Me a Reason, Time that Remains, and Unbreakable Heart all fall into this category.
Overall, the album feels like more of a transitional album executed wrong. I can see how their goal was to give their fans a glimpse of their newer sound and style, while still trying to add some harder songs to keep their older fans with them. But to me, it goes back and forth too forcefully, as if the band itself was unsure of which style to stick with. Now that Adam has left, it will be interesting to see if they follow along with their newer sound, or go back to a style that follows more closely to their older work.
