It's just a sticker covering up where he took out his neck pick-up. If you have Sake Bombs look at all Dave's guitars he does it to all of them cos he doesnt need the clean channel.

When did he use it?
i dont think he did, unless it was to just cut out feedback in between songs...but he prolly uses it off the road a lot, too. just sayin, that might be a reason why he doesnt have the other pickup, cause its not just for cleans. hell, dave murray only uses the neck pickup, and he still has a real heavy sound
