i don't get what is so amazing about streaming music? is the quality any good?
i just don't see the point in paying to stream music when i already have an abundance of music on my computer and my phone that i can access whenever i want to.

Re: Spotify
It's of CD quality, yes. 320kb/s for premium users.
You pay for it.. because for £4.99 you get as much music as you want... For less than the price of an album.
I don;t see what's hard to understand...

Re: Spotify
I'm an audio engineer and 320kbps MP3s are not CD quality, they are close but they aren't quite as good. Sure I suppose you can argue that it doesn't make a noticeable difference, and that's true. I'm just saying, what does spotify have for me that I dont already have?
I buy most of my CDs, just because my car doesn't have a decent iPod hook up. I havent bought a new album since SBM, mainly cause the music store here sucks and charge 15$ for new releases :/
Also, is spotify just streaming music, or can I download too for that monthy fee? I'd like to see a catalogue of all their available tracks before I have to sign up if I could. Not that it matters because it's not in Canada yet...

True, I just wouldn't have enough hard drive space for all that. That's like 500Mb an album.Jake! wrote:The L gives it away...Boni Boy Blue wrote:Fuck MP3 when it comes to quality. FLAC beats it hands down.

Re: Spotify
the point is, it's an instant access to like 13 million tracks in one program, it's brilliant depending on what you will use it for. like me, I use it 8 hours a day at work. I'm not allowed to put my own music on my work computer, and I don't have my complete music collection on my phone (becuase it won't fit) so I use Spotify. I can listen to all the music I want (if it's on Spotify) all day every day for £4.99 a month. if I read about a band on a website, I can check them out on Spotify (if they have any music on there!) without having to buy or download there album.2712 wrote:I'm an audio engineer and 320kbps MP3s are not CD quality, they are close but they aren't quite as good. I definitely recommend everyone checking it out if they can and if it's available in their country, it's a fantastic service.

Re: Spotify
That sounds quite handy. I'm terrible at checking out new bands because I don't want to download a torrent or search YouTube for songs. This sounds like if a band is on Spotify, all their music will be readily available to listen to, which would be really nice. I hope it comes to Canada soon.Bobbyjames wrote:the point is, it's an instant access to like 13 million tracks in one program, it's brilliant depending on what you will use it for. like me, I use it 8 hours a day at work. It probably checks your IP so even if I someone would make you account you still can't log in.Madjid wrote:Okay, i don't live in one of the eligible countries, i have downloaded the program, when i tried to use it, it asked me for the log in info, so can someone create an account that i can use?

Re: Spotify
Pretty cool, Spotify was first in Sweden (done by the swedes) i tried it out and had it for a while.
Now it sucks though, it's too much ads in it and the quality isn't always the best also you get no bonus songs, maybe there will be some but then you will have to be lucky.

You can only use an account outside of said country if you're a Premium subscriber whose card is registered to a eligible countrysamueeL wrote:It probably checks your IP so even if I someone would make you account you still can't log in.Madjid wrote:Okay, i don't live in one of the eligible countries, i have downloaded the program, when i tried to use it, it asked me for the log in info, so can someone create an account that i can use?

I could well take advantage of your account then :-D. Wouldn't do that though, I'm cool like that.Jake! wrote:You can only use an account outside of said country if you're a Premium subscriber whose card is registered to a eligible countrysamueeL wrote:It probably checks your IP so even if I someone would make you account you still can't log in.Madjid wrote:Okay, i don't live in one of the eligible countries, i have downloaded the program, when i tried to use it, it asked me for the log in info, so can someone create an account that i can use?
