Once on a Dutch radio station they played a song and you had to guess from what band it was;

A) Blink 182
B) Sum 41
C) can't remember

I was pissed. Most of the people only know sum 41 from their early work. Now they sound nothing like blink 182.

Seriously..Sum 41 never sounded like blink, ever. I never think of the other band when listening to one of them. They were a different sort of pop punk.

It’s like sounding really nice, having a good feel, that’s all about the guitar.
That’s what I care about. I’d rather be a better strummer than fuckin' jizz all over the fuckin' fretboard...

Special as in unique.. let's see if you can name a band just as unique..(fun fact: it's impossible)

I always seen them as two completely different bands. Blink has like a 13-year old sound where sum 41 has more of a 15-year old sound. theres a difference.

I can see how someone with mainstream music tastes could confuse The Sums and Blink, but that's only due to their musical ignorance..

Anyways.. when the fuck is this video gonna be out?

Special as in unique.. let's see if you can name a band just as unique..(fun fact: it's impossible)
System of a Down is more unique, their singer owns probably the most recognizable voice in the last 20 years ...
Blink 182,Rage Against The Machine,Beastie Boys,Nirvana,Billy Talent and many other bands ...

I agree about System of a Down, Rage Against the Machine and Billy Talent being unique. Not Nirvana... the most overrated grunge band... Alice in Chains, Pearl Jam and Soundgarden were always better anyway, and if Kurt would never killed himself, they would've never get this recognition as the definite and ultimate grunge band... nothing too special about them. Not saying they were bad... but nothing too special about them really to make them unique. Alice in Chains were more unique, if talking about 90s grunge bands that are unique.

Nirvana got the recognition they deserved because they were different. not many bands back then played heavy, loud instruments with pop-melody-overtones. they were on the fore-front of being revolutionary.

now, to say they were "amazing musicians" in relation to their technical skill, no. Kurt was a shit technical guitarist. Krist, was a decent bassist, and Dave was one of the greatest drummers at that time.

however, you KNOW a Nirvana song when you hear it.

Well, I still don't get it... If Kurt wouldn't kill himself they wouldn't get the same recognition.. the same loud heavy music with pop overtones.. the forefront of grunge was already played by Soundgarden, Mother Love Bone, Alice in Chains since around 1987-1988. Soundgarden ever started some time before but only had their album in 1988, and Alice in Chains also.. though they played some glam/grunge combination before moving to the heavy tones.

I know all the grunge bands you have written and still I love Nirvana the most, then Soundgarden, Alive In Chains and Pearl Jam

and it's just 5 bands, there is much more, and Nirvana definitely was unique imo ,,,
