Sum 41 / SBM discussion

On an unrelated note, it seems that BIME had a mostly positive response from fans probably even more than SBM.
But one thing I've noticed is that every song that has been leaked/released from the album has been compared to mcr, even the new one.

Okay, Skumfuk, maybe a little bit,

BIME, you have got to be kidding!

I know I shouldn't care about what others think but I like to see how a song is received amongst fans.
And all I see is "mcr this", "mcr that", "this sounds like mcr", that's all I see and I'm sick of it.
Come on, mcr don't have heavy riffs like the ones in BIME and SBM. They sound nothing like them.

On a more positive note, I like the new songs and I can't wait to hear the rest and thankfully there's not long to go!

you're right , these song may have the darkness of the black parade but it sound nothing like mcr , i do love both bands.... I'm lookin' forward to their show togther i feel they gonna kick ass .... hopefully deryck recovers soon...

It's working for me, but quality is just terrible.

Yes, Skumfuk is like MCR. SBM isn't at all, and I definitely feel Muse vibes from BIME. Especially the softer vocals and riffs

reminds me of how annoying it was that people were writing off underclass hero as an american idiot copy when it sounds nothing like it, nothing you can do about it though except ignore it and know that you like the songs

Totally, it's not ripping them off. It's the sound Deryck has written for the album because he's probably been influenced, thats ok. It not copying, it's still Sum 41 but with a different sound, more mature and darker that sounds vaguely familiar to MCR or Muse, but it's Sum 41.

To be a little fair, Muse and MCR started out with their own original sound.

With Sum wanting to cross different genres, they kind of crossed over into that. But I agree, let the music play, who cares who it is. It's all good shit.
