Well 18 was the age in Finland too, excluding some night clubs. But with 21 you're officially an adult all over the world.

That doesn't concern me yet, because I travel only to neighbour countries like Slovakia or Austria, and there it's 18 and in Austria even 16 I think :D Though I'd like to travel to some distant places.
in saskatchewan, you can apply for a driver's license at age 16, but you must first have a valid "learners licence", which you need to be 15 years old to get. you also have to pass a course and test. at age 18, you can legally buy tobacco, lottery tickets and vote. at age 19 is when you can buy and "legally" consume alcohol. - this varies per province, in Alberta, Manitoba and Quebec, the legal drinking age is 18.
in British Colombia, all you get when you turn 18, is the right to vote. i can't even buy lottery tickets here until i turn 19. bullshit. and the driver's program is fucked up here too. they have "N" and "L" stickers on vehicles that mean "new driver" and "learner". and apparently you have to take a test to get the L, then take another test a year later to get rid of the L and get an N. then they have to take another test another year later to get rid of the N! but it's appropriate, i think because all the drivers here are maniacs.
