Here's a question for you audio nerds
Ok so I have a problem. I have a line 6 spider IV amp and I'm trying to record some shit. My mic' broke and I'm too cheap to buy a new one. ON the amp there is an output for recording. When I plug my headphonesinit it sounds perfect. But when I plug it into my computer it sounds like satan taking a shit. Please don't tell me to buy a mic' because I don't feel like it, I hope someonecan help me. What am I doing wrong?

90% sure it's your comp. Question though, comp or laptop?

Plugging an amp directly into a PC isn't the best way to do it...
Infact it's probably the worst.

Did you plug it on the mic input or the line input ? I know it sounds stupid, but have you tried a lower volume ? Sometimes if the input level is too loud the sound resulting is shit.

Yeah you need a DI box for guitars, but he plugs the amp in his motherboard, the guitar itself is plugged in the amp.

Ok well here's a better question. What type of audio interfac should I buy? Something reasonable, not really expensive.

I don't know what you mean by expensive, but I bought a UGM96 for around 70€
Here's the link: http://www.thomann.de/gb/esi_ugm96.htm
It has a guitar input for DI guitar, and a mic input. To be honest, I find it pretty good, I use it with my laptop along with protools 9, it works just great !
