I had made one partition with size 25 Gb for Windows 7 and I installed it there ...then I had downloaded Ubuntu 10.10 from ubuntu.com and tried to install it ...it gave me this
http://img403.imageshack.us/img403/1575/fuck.jpg
I have already tried 3 versions ...only one worked for me and it was installed with my cousin's original CD(version 9.04) ...but I decided that I will rather install Windows 7 first so I won't have to solve the grub problem ...but it doesn't work for me ...I had two friends who use Ubuntu in my house and none of them have ever seen this error ...anybody here can help ??or I
btw I have been planning on using 15 GB for Ubuntu and the rest for all the data ...but this ubuntu just does not work ...I also tried to make the partitions before the installation of Linux but didn't help ...

Re: Ubuntu Problem
I would also suggest this.Jake! wrote:Install ubuntu from inside windows.
Personally I never dual-boot by partitioning my hard drive. Just causes too much problems. I always say give each OS it's own hard drive.
Also, you would be better posting your problem here: http://ubuntuforums.org/
As much as I like to call myself a Ubuntu geek, I haven't got much experience with the dual-boot aspect since Ubuntu is my sole OS.

Re: Ubuntu Problem
Just fuckin format your hard drive, and install Windows XP Pack 3.
If you get bored with it, there are shitloads of themes and stuff out there.

Re: Ubuntu Problem
I like Ubuntu more than windows, but it doesn't work on my notebook very much, because I have GPU ATi HD4330 and I just can't get it work. And without GPU acceleration, CPU works too much, ntb is hot like hell and it pisses me off and Windows 7 has many bugs I think, although I am on it right now.. I would love to have Mac OSX, it's perfect system for me.. just to manage and listen to music, surf the internet, communicate through msn/icq, but it doesn't work on almost every nonapple computer/notebook and I don't have money for buying iMac or Macbook. Do you think it is good idea to buy some cheap Mac Mini
(for example this one
PPC G4 1,25 GHz
1 GB DDR SDRAM
40 GB HD
Combo CD RW / DVD
ATI Radeon 9200 AGP, 32 MB VRAM) for 100 bucks and connect it to my HD tv? I wonder how fast can be system on this hardware..
Thanks for answer, I don't feel like starting another topic because of such a minor thing.

Re: Ubuntu Problem
In Ubuntu, have you tried installing the proprietary ATI drivers in "System" -> "Administration" -> "Additional Drivers".
I wouldn't get any computer that has SDRAM or a PowerPC processor. A lot of application have discontinued support for PowerPcs. SDRAM is so outdated, computer nowadays run DDR3 RAM and in fairness even DDR2 RAM is cheap and can be easily over-clocked to run at higher voltages.
Also, iTunes is a nightmare on both Windows and Mac because it is one very resource hungry application.
