Hardly a classic. If I remember correctly the only reason they wrote the song was because the label wanted a catchy single. And the lyrics are horrible for being sung by someone pushing 30.
Was that story ever confirmed? I've never heard blink actually talk about that. Either way I consider First Date one of the classics of blink and I think the lyrics are perfect for the song.

This is Mark Allen Hoppus. He likes long walks on the beach. This, this is travis barker. He likes to be read poetry just before sunset. And me, I like to stick small pieces of furniture up my butt.

It's not being picky really. He's a singer in a band, yet he can't sing. Fat Mike from NOFX sounded better than him, and that's saying something. It stops the show from being amazing in my opinion, it was painful to watch him by the end of it.

I've always thought every song other than there is was just playback of some kind. Because it do sound alot like the album. Maybe i'm wrong.
This is one of my favourite performances. He actually sounds really good and the crowd amazes me by knowing every word. Oh yeah, "We like never ever do encores", times sure do change.

I never forgot, he just got worse when he left blink and formed AvA... Now he's getting better with blink being back XD He probably won't be as good as he used to be ever again.

I'm not sure what goes through his mind, like, if he thinks incorporating the AvA-esque vocals makes him sound more mature or makes him out to be a better singer. It's like he puts too much emotion in his voice in songs that had hardly any to begin with. They were just fun songs to listen to.

Some girl on 182-online described it like this "Singing about god and dancing like a prat isn't maturing, that's a mid-life crisis." Pretty spot on I think.

:) this is really great :D but he still has the same goals as he used to .. :P in the last interview with Tom I watched he said that he want to make this world a better place with dick jokes ...and that the new album will obtain some ... :D
btw. I really hope that Blink 182 will remain Blink 182 ...I don't want any influence from their side projects ...maybe Boxcar Racer would be okay ...

I don't know ...there is so many reasons why the new record of Blink 182 could be a disappointment ...Tom can bring AvA to Blink and more...but I still believe in power of the bounding between Tom and Mark ...and if you add the awesomeness of Travis, the unique sound of his drum parts, you must get something great out of it ...Mark and Tom were born to make music together and I was never disappointed by anything they have ever done ...I am sure that I will like their new album ...

As long as the album contains distorted guitars without spce effects and the dick jokes kept to a minimum i think i'll be happy. I don't care for blink's lyrics that much anyway. But somehow i get the feeling they're overdoing the jokes. It doesn't seem natural. They shouldn't act like they haven't changed because all three of them have.

I agree with the first sentence...the part about overdoing the jokes ...I think that people can change but they don't have to be totally different...I mean, you can be a better man but you can still keep on saying dick jokes everywhere you go...one friend once told me that Tom was saying some on tour with AvA,before Blink 182 got together ...but I don't know if he didn't make it up...

Thanks to everyone who came out to the shows on the UK-Euro tour! Amazing! Now back in the USA. Let's record an album! - Mark Hoppus on his Twitter...I hope we'll get to see some studio updates... :)
