[Review] Good Charlotte @ Helsinki, Finland

Post by TomiT14 »

Good Charlotte @ Helsinki, Finland on July 22nd 2010.

Never really gave this band a listen, apart from the most famous singles. And neither did I listen to them that much after buying a ticket to their show. But I have to say that was some intense shit!

Even though I didn't know the half of the songs, they made sure the whole crowd was turned on for the whole time. And for a change, it was nice to hear some talking between the songs, and from both Benji and Joel. Previous gigs I've been to have just been the frontman talking by himself, so GC handled the talking much better.

And there were some surprises too. Joel fucked up the East Coast Anthem, so the rest of the band had to improvise, and it ended up quite well. The highlight of the show, however, was the blink-182 cover of Dammit in the middle of the song The Story Of My Old Man (got that on video).
Also, while taking a video, something hit me in the eye. I just thought it was some random shit someone threw in the crowd. But realizing afterwards it was a guitar pick from the stage by guitarist Billy Martin.

So a great show. The venue was rather small, but the atmosphere was very intense, it was great.
And even when I didn't recognize the songs, the band made sure I enjoyed my time there.

Here are some pics I took.

The setlist

1. The Anthem
2. Walk Away (Maybe)
3. My Bloody Valentine
4. So Lonely (The Police cover)
5. Girls & Boys
6. The Chronicles Of Life And Death
7. Keep Your Hands Off My Girl
8. Predictable
9. Like It's Her Birthday (new song from the still unreleased album)
10. Festival Song
11. East Coast Anthem
12. Hold On
13. The River
14. Dance Floor Anthem
15. I Just Wanna Live
16. Lifestyles Of The Rich & Famous
--Encore-- (Drum solo)
17. The Story Of My Old Man (including a cover of blink-182 - Dammit)
18. The Young & The Hopeless

And, I still think we should have a sub-section for Other music tours / reviews.

EDIT: Damn, got a warning for copyright infringement. Expect my videos to be disappeared.

That's terribly off. As you can see, River is listed there twice. Plus there are many songs they didn't play, like We Believe. And the set wasn't that long, maybe about 15 songs give or take.

I don't agree that there should be a section for this stuff, mainly because there probably wouldn't be much contribution from members to a section like that.
And I know I said I needed space,

but I know I can't be comfortable in my own skin.

So when I say I'm scared to be alone, you know I mean it,

I'm just not ready to leave my room.

I just copied it off that site (which is normally good for setlists). Just trying to help.

I really like Good Charlotte ...and I wish I could see them live too ...maybe one day if they will come to Europe and choose some of the countries close to Slovakia ...
This is Mark Allen Hoppus. He likes long walks on the beach. This, this is travis barker. He likes to be read poetry just before sunset. And me, I like to stick small pieces of furniture up my butt.

I spy on my dad while he is taking a shower just like everyone else
Mark: Sometimes when I talk in 3rd person i end up calling tom mark
Tom:Yea than he starts touching me and i think thats masturbation
Some people think were idiots or perverts dont argue were both.
"i think we're gonna be one of those bands thats around forever and even makes records, even if noones buying them and using them for toilet paper...but we'll still make them because we'll be the best fuckin toilet paper anyones ever used...." - Tom Delonge

Wow thats cool. I haven't listened to GC is like two years already but I heard Like It's Her Birthday lately from the live youtube videos and it sounds pretty solid.. the new album comes out on October 26 , so I'm sure i'm gonna check them out.. Old GC songs remind me of some good old memories.

Same I think. They need to stop messing about and release another album.

they had it done last year, but decided to scrap the whole thing and start over.

they have a new song somewhere on youtube they played at a concert, to be honest it sounded like garbage.
