One song missing, is an album still great?

Lots of music around nowadays. Want to talk about it?

I didn't think it stood out as much as the first half of Appeal to Reason with the exception of Lost Forgotten Sons. I hate that song.

Really? I just listened to that album earlier. That's one of the better songs on that half of the album. It's a poor first half, and up to audience of one i don't enjoy that album all to much..

The thing about Savior and Hero of War is that they're being overplayed and when i went to see Rise Against about a week ago 90% of the audience was just waiting for those two songs. Hell, the only song they knew other than that was Prayer of The Refugee from Guitar Hero. So i don't mind the songs themselves it just bugs me that they are being so overplayed and attracts every teeny bopper who likes "that acoustic war-song!!". Savior even made it into a Sims Game. Rise Against ahve changed a lot since i first heard them on the Rock Against Bush cd. Most people barely knows Give It All.

I completely understand that! It would make me cringe if i was a Green Day fan and then all of a sudden American Idiot is the hot thing and all the teeny-boppers claim to have been Green Day fans since Dookie.

Maybe that's why I'm a hard Sum 41 fan, not too many people have ever heard of them, nonetheless have they explored that genre, so i don't have to deal with that.

10 years ago pop-punk was probably the most popular trend in music with new bands popping up everywhere. Four years ago it was emo and now it's easycore.

And even though i love Rise Against Appeal To Reason was a dissapointment to me. If it was a new band i would have loved it but now it didn't sound like Rise Against. Not enough rage in it.

There would be a lot more single guys if it weren't for that song. xD

An artist or band decides each and every song on an album. If one wasn't there, then I guess it wouldn't be as special to them. Imagine if the Sums were on the fence with deciding if they should put Fat Lip on the album. How much of a difference would that make? So all in all, I believe each song on an album counts for everything.

Without "Drops of Jupiter", or any of the other former singles Train released, they probably would have never been big enough to reach much success with the new track.

If Sum 41 never put In Too Deep on the album, they would still be successful. They'd just have to find another track off of the album to promote. I think it's easier to question an album when you hear the B-side to it and say "this song sounds better than 9 out of the 10 songs that made the album. Why was this not on there?"
And I know I said I needed space,

but I know I can't be comfortable in my own skin.

So when I say I'm scared to be alone, you know I mean it,

I'm just not ready to leave my room.

I totally agree, I never understood b-sides and it pisses me off when i know they're better than most of the other songs that actually made the record..

Like Sum 41's Noots. I mean, Chuck is an awesome album anyway without it as well, but the fact they had to cut Noots off the album to make place for We're All to Blame... they could cut off some other song, or just add it so the album would have 14 tracks like UH (one is intro anyway).
