btw, the pick guard is just from an old Harmony

That is bullshit, i hate it when art teachers give grades based upon their own opinions. How does one grade art anyway? I've had about 4-5 different art teachers in various places and they've all taught me differently. I remember when my neighbour who has been an artist for 30 years told me not to pursue realism at all when my art school teacher insisted that i do so. I always tell people to not take other artist's opinions as the only truth but take a few bits of it and make it your own. However if they give you shitty grades for it and fail you then they're just morons.fenderrocks wrote:I was a graphic design major my freshman year. So basically all of them but one teacher gave me C's and to them, that was like failing. Long story short, I left and changed my major to marketing (which still allows me to do graphics and enjoy art instead of dreading the next "assignment". yeah, thats a good idea too, never thought of using booklet images as backgrounds and suchfinglemaster wrote:The art in the album booklet for Pull the Curtain is pretty splendid as well.
It could be much more elaborated on, but it has a good foundation. I colored this one in a few years ago and made it a little less square.
exactly, I think if I had continued I would have lost the drive for artCUNT wrote:at least without the pressure of assignments and "work", you can go back to enjoying art, and re-discovering the love you once had for art. maybe you just had to go through this to realise you wouldn't want to do something like that as a job and rather leave the art as a hobbie, a passion of yours.
yeah, I guess part of my problem may have been that I was just pissed at the teachers and it spilled over into anger for art. I started by drawing cars, maybe I'll scan some of my old sketches and post themFuckT41182 wrote:yeah as someone had written before I came you should continue ...another ability of yours ? :P I wish I could draw as good as you do ...It was a hell for me to pass my art classes at school ...and to the teachers ...fuck them and their style you have to believe in your style and when you like it that way then continue doing it ...I think it's stupid to give C's to someone just because they don't like your style ..
yep, its fucked up. Art should be about expression and the artist not the teacher and guidelines. The professor that hated my guts made torn paper collages for a living. One professor (thank god I didn't have him) would put the students assignments in order of how much he liked them. I've always hated the "rules" school put on art. Any art...music, dance, cooking, paint...it shouldn't have rules.Mississippi Burning wrote: That is bullshit, i hate it when art teachers give grades based upon their own opinions. same happens with transaltion teachers, if they think that your text is too formal etcMississippi Burning wrote:That is bullshit, i hate it when art teachers give grades based upon their own opinions.
