Deryck at Guitar Center Drum Off 2010
D at: Guitar Center Drum Off Jan 8,2010!
Guitar Center announced today that Tommy Lee and the Street Drum Corps’ Frank Zummo will present “Bezerk†– an exclusive project commissioned by Guitar Center, featuring some of today’s top drummers and artists – as part of the upcoming Drum-Off Grand Finals, taking place January 8, 2010 at The Wiltern in Los Angeles. Artists performing in “Bezerk†include Chad Smith (Red Hot Chili Peppers), Matt Sorum (Guns ‘N Roses, Velvet Revolver), José Pasillas (Incubus), DJ Aero, Sully Erna (Godsmack), Jay Weinberg, BANG! and others to be announced. Hosted by Stephen Perkins (Jane’s Addiction), this historic evening will also include a very special tribute to John Bonham by Jason Bonham, along with an exclusive collaborative performance by Danny Carey (Tool) and Brann Dailor (Mastodon).
These all-star drummers will all come together on one stage to celebrate the night’s main event: performances by the top five undiscovered drummers in the nation, who will compete in front of a capacity crowd and a panel of celebrity judges to see who will win a prize package worth more than $40,000 and the title of “Guitar Center Drum-Off Champion†– the nation’s top undiscovered drummer. Guitar Center will also induct drum icons Billy Cobham and John Bonham into Guitar Center’s Drum Legends as part of the evening’s festivities.

Cool! Deryck really likes that Les Paul.
Anyone else get a weird feeling when they watch Deryck play the lead to the old Sum 41 songs? I just get this assumption that he either doesn't know or can't play it because I'm so used to seeing him play rhythm.

Well to me it shows that Deryck can still play, so why isn't he playing more in Sum shows.Jeremy Kill wrote:Cool! Deryck really likes that Les Paul.

I'd die to hear the split Hell Song solo again.

Billie Joe plays lots of lead guitar live too. So if Deryck would want to be like BJ, he's doing lousy job.Emil wrote:Cause he wanna be like Billie JoeTomiT14 wrote:Well to me it shows that Deryck can still play, so why isn't he playing more in Sum shows.Jeremy Kill wrote:Cool! Deryck emulating Billie Joe? Pffffft. I also refuse to believe Deryck wears TUKs because Billie Joe does! Les Paul Juniors? Ha! Leather jackets? Baloney! Tight pants, dress shirts and neck-ties on stage? Suuuure!Emil wrote:Cause he wanna be like Billie JoeTomiT14 wrote:Well to me it shows that Deryck can still play, so why isn't he playing more in Sum shows.Jeremy Kill wrote:Cool! In all seriousness though, Billie Joe is a good frontman with a lot of showmanship. I'd copy his style too if mine wasn't getting results. Deryck's not bad himself, but he says "fuck," "fuckers," and "motherfuckers" way too often.

That kind of annoys me when is watch the ItD concert. In Sake Bombs he doesn't overuse the word fuck nearly as much or at all. He has started to do it again recently though.Jeremy Kill wrote:Deryck emulating Billie Joe? Pffffft. I also refuse to believe Deryck wears TUKs because Billie Joe does! Les Paul Juniors? Ha! Re: Deryck at Guitar Center Drum Off 2010
I don't mind the swearing, but using the exact same lines in almost every show is kinda annoying.
It's already enough to have the same setlist over and over again, but to use same lines between songs is way too much imo.

Too many audiences go dying on him at the exact time that he needs them now more than ever. Are they still with him or what?TomiT14 wrote:I don't mind the swearing, but using the exact same lines in almost every show is kinda annoying.
