Spanish police have arrested nine men suspected of seeking to have a woman killed after they accused her of adultery, claiming they were following Islamic law, authorities said on Sunday.

The men were arrested on November 14 and seven have been held in jail, a police spokesman said.

According to police, the woman had been taken in March and held in an isolated house in Valls in southeastern Catalonia.

Authorities say the men set up a court there to judge her for adultery.

"These men had formed a kind of court to apply (Islamic) sharia law," the spokesman said, adding the woman told authorities she was tried and sentenced to death.

She was later able to escape and report what happened to police.

since they were judging her by the islamic law think it would be fair to judge them following the inquistion laws,

I'd just get preached to death. these men seem to have let religion take over their minds and have been taught the wrong values in life. I don't want to sit here and bash anyones religion, I know these men are just a handful from the greater picture and do not reflect their religions true values and beliefs. it's just a shame when you read stories like this, it really does give certain religions a bad reputation. without realising it, these men could have tarnished their religion to the point where sensible and true people who follow the same religion are being abused and tortured in the street, all accross the world purely for what they believe in. and it's not gonna change anytime soon.
