Nope. We are starting to do pre pro coming up in the next few weeks then recording early next year. So earlier then fall '10 at this point.

Oh shit. Fall 2010? That's like a year from now. lol. :suicide:
Yeah wtf?

In August or September they said they are going to start recording in November, so the album would come out by summer.
Now they'll start recording "early" next year?

I like how they use the words "early" and "soon".
For the record, the new site has been "coming soon" since February. Also the b-side of Cone's was to come out "soon, probably early 2008".

Nice.

Yeah, the Sums sure like to take their time haha. I just want this record out already! I hope it won't be later than summer 2010, no matter when they record. I mean, they worked under pressure in AKNF and DTLI and recorded those in weeks and in a gap of a year in between. Now if they would only work fast here and not take half a year to record it like UH, we might be lucky.

umm, i think it's just that the dude asked that is it gonna be out like in fall 2010 then, and cone answered like, "no,it's gonna be earlier than fall 2010". so it's still going with the "summer 2010" release date.

Yeah, I noticed that.
But, the fact that the recordings start "early next year", compared to the previous start-time in November, wouldn't it affect the release date too?

My take is early August.

yeah it's gonna affect a two month delay for it atleast. i think the divorce is the main reason for this kind of delay.
and yea, it's definitely gonna be august, unfortunately.

Yeah, probably no earlier than August. I mean, look, UH started recording around November 2006 and it was released in late July 2007. So with recording to begin in around January it would probably be out in August, hopefully, unless they'll record it old school in a few weeks like AKNF and DTLI.

I really hope they are more prepared than last time around.
I mean, they spent over 4 months in the studio for UH, so if they're going to spend the same amount of time this time around too, it'll take a while to get the album released.

Also he says "earlier than Fall 2010 at this point". Oh lord. This album better be the next "Sgt. Peppers Lonely Hearts Club Band" if we're waiting this long.

thats nothing, try waiting 2 years after a record is supposedly done. That Evan Taubenfeld guy I talk about sometimes "finished" his album in April 2008, we have yet to receive it, he just decided to start two new songs and is still working on 2 already on the album.....he uses the word SOON a lot, its like the banished word on that forum...lol

On the bright side, we probably won't end up like the poor GN'R fan that waited a decade and a half for Chinese Democracy.

Yeah, but on the bright side is that we might get new material soon after this album is released. They are probably gonna record 20 songs so bonus tracks included we're gonna get 16-17 songs. And my guess is that they are gonna release the EP after this album, or some kind of "Remains" album. and then call it quitzz ;<

10/07/09

Q:
Is there a specific direction your new material is headed?
Deryck:
It’s definitely got some direction to it, yeah. We had started originally writing an EP, six or seven songs, but when I played the material for people they would say “You’ve almost got a full album here, and this is really good.
You should keep going, it’s just five more songs.” So I kept writing songs, and now all of the original songs on the EP have been outdone. I’m just going to keep going until I’m stop topping myself.

Hopefully we eventually get to hear what the original EP songs in the future, but I think once the new album is released and we listen to that, these EP tracks are going to sound weak. But it'd still be cool to hear them.

So you really think we're ever going to hear those EP songs?
Good luck with that.

I have learnt to know the Sums with all their "soons".
The new site was to come out soon last February.
The Cone b-side was to come out 2 years ago.
The time between the last two R2R's was a year, so they scrapped the idea of R2R so they can post videos more often without making an episode of it.
More often, they said. When was the last R2R again?

So whenever they finish the album, believe me, they are not releasing the old EP songs anymore.
No matter how hard I want to hear those songs.
After they're finished with the album, they will concentrate on promoting it and go on tour.
After that, who knows, but going back to old demos is very unlikely.

But they have already recorded the EP in professional studio, so it would be totally ridiculous to scrap it.

Hey everyone. It's been a while since I've posted a blog.
But I wanted to give you guys an update on what's been going on.
We've been in the studio recording this week.
We've recorded 7 new songs that we hope to put on an EP album that will come out early next year.
Stevo finished all the drums and now Cone is laying down his bass.
Also our greatest hits CD came out in Japan last week and debuted at #2! so thank you to all of our fans over there.
I will have more updates for you again.

Exactly, they'll just put em on the new album. Given the time they've had to listen to them, they'll prolly try to make them better, and then we'll almost be promised 7 good songs!
I'm happy.

Now I'm confused again.

So Sum 41 wrote and recorded 7 songs for the EP, right? Deryck said he outdid all those songs and would keep writing until he couldn't top himself anymore. They've got about 20 tracks now, but does that include the original 7 from the EP? Because for the longest time Sum 41 kept saying they only had 6 or 7 songs recorded and that could've meant they scrapped the EP tracks and just recorded the better ones.

I'm 90% sure that those 7 songs are not included in those 20 songs, 'cause he said they have been outdone. But yeah, confusing situation..

I'm gonna count all the recorded songs!

8/12/08
We've recorded 7 new songs that we hope to put on an EP album that will come out early next year.
5/01/09
Cone has been in LA with us putting down his bass parts on about 6 new songs.
21/01/09
Stevo and I were in the studio all day yesterday and ended up recording 4 new songs.
05/07/09
Deryck and I are going into the studio to record a new song today.
6/08/09
Deryck and Stevo are recording a new track today!
=19

5/11/09
About 20 or so songs are written.
My guess is that still that they are not gonna use those EP songs, and in 2008-2009 Deryck has written 30-40 songs.

Yeah, its freakin' confuse but the way I see it they won't use those 7 EP songs for the album and the album is something new entirely. Of course, I hope to hear the EP songs in the future, maybe they'll even add it to the album in the special deluxe edition or whatever, but yeah, I guess those 20 songs Deryck said in the last update are not the ones from the EP.
I mean, the way I see it now, the EP is something entirely different. When they were working on the EP, Deryck was still the producer, he said it the chat then he will produce it and all, and they were actually in the studio recording it all the way it should be... not just demoing. Although it sounds like they never got to finish, Deryck updated about recording the bass & drums, but never said anything about guitars and vocals. I bet they did some guitars if not for all, but I bet they didn't get to do the vocals before they scrapped the whole idea, and Deryck moved on to write more and then they decided to do a full-length and with a big name producer. So with the producer and all, it seems like the work method for the EP was also different and they rushed into recording it, and now they are working differently I guess... they take their time... which sucks for us haha, but I guess it will make the album better.

It makes things easier when Samuel keeps tabs on what's been posted, haha.

If they ever do release the EP tracks, they should do it with their singles or something. Or release a deluxe version of their album with all the EP tracks on it.
