this is kinda interesting

Hey Deryck, it's me again asking about your guitars. Which kind of guitar was your very first one? Thanks.
asked by david41 on Sep 12, 2009 7:00pm
my first guitar was an ibanez roadstar II series. it got stolen a few years ago at a show though. that was kind of a bummer.

Heyy Sum 41,

Are you Guys Going to make a Song like pieces on you'r new album?
Not like the song itselfs but you know kinda sad or something.

You Guys Really Rocks!
asked by Mr. Swin on Sep 15, 2009 11:16am
sort of. there's some mellow stuff on the record as well as really fast and heavy stuff. and as far as sad, that's hard to say because lyrics mean different things to different people. like i said it is a dark feeling record so there will be a moody vibe to the songs.

Going to keep this topic on life-support a little longer:
how do you get you inspiration for new songs, do you write about what you have been through or how do you do it?
asked by Vadilator on Sep 27, 2009 3:58pm

it depends. on this album all i've been doing is waiting for songs to come to me. i used to always sit and write but this record has been coming to me so naturally that i'm not going to question it.

deryck, what's your favourite oasis song?
asked by andyplaysthedrums on Sep 24, 2009 7:42am

hello.
answered by DERYCK on Sep 30, 2009 9:29pm
I read an interview somewhere, either Deryck or Cone said the reason why "Half Hour of Power" is called what it is, is because, quote "for a long time we couldn't play for longer than a 30 minutes", is that true or did you just say so? and btw Cone you are awesome, I believe bassists never get enough credit so I'm giving you some:)
asked by 41daysofsummer on Sep 28, 2009 7:57pm

Well thanks. For a long time we didn't have enough songs to play over a half hour but the real reason the album was called that was because it was a half hour of power.

How many songs are recorded on the new cd so far?
asked by Swadex10 on Sep 20, 2009 7:34pm

None yet - we've demoed about 6 but we still have more to go! We start rehearsals this week!

Well, the last answer answers all of those who still thought those songs Deryck were talking about like half a year ago weren't demos, but thing is... its weird... I mean, only then when Deryck started updating us in the beggining of 2009, he was always telling about 2-3 songs they recorded (demos obviously), then Stevo would come on to tell about another new song, and then Deryck saying something about 6-7 songs and plus the even older demos, they should've had already like 20 demos or so... and then in the last interview in the summer, Steve and Cone said they are like 6 songs into the album... how come it always comes back to 6, it should be so much more!

6 rehearsed, shaped, made better than previously.

Demo 6 or more, (couldn't take long)... And repeat the previous process then boom!
It's studio time.

hey sum 41, first off let me say that I can't wait for the new album to see what direction you guys went in your music, and hopefully you will come back to toronto for a show, the last one I was at rocked.

Anywho, when your new album is about to be released, would you consider doing an interview on ThatRadio in toronto? 1 It's an amazing station and 2 I work there hehe...

Fellow Torontonian! Its getting really shitty here now. Cold and rainy. Our next album will be out next year. We are starting to rehearse in the next 2 weeks. New songs Sound awesome. Aggressive and heavy.
