College

Post by Shiv »

so heres the deal

im getting a mac for college. however, i dont know if i should go the extra money for a 15" screen, or will 13" be enough. are there any differences between the 13 and 15 screens besides length? (like battery power, laptop size, etc.)

i would love to just get teh 15" screen, but this laptop is comming out of my own heard earned money, so if there are no real plusses to it then i might as well just get the 13"

here are the specs:
13-inch
2.53GHz
Intel Core 2 Duo
4GB memory
250GB hard drive1
SD card slot
Built-in 7-hour battery2
NVIDIA GeForce 9400M graphics
$1,399.00

or the 15:
same specs but it costs $1,599.00

is it worth it? i'm going to get applecare protection too
help much appreciated

If it's for college you should just get on of those Asus EEE netbooks with linux pre-installed, there only £250 ($300 maybe). There fast little fuckers and there small too, It's what I used through college and it still come in handy at home.

I'd say 15". I got the 15". It's lovely.

Except mine cost me $2500. What the fuck?!

I would say so. You're already playing $1300 anyway so another $200 probably won't hurt. Plus, you can never go wrong with the one you really want and Macs last a while.

Hold on, you paying over a grand for this the the hard drive isn't even 7200rpms, fuck sake, what a rip off.

But I would go for the 13'' screen man, That $200 could be spent on something else that might be needed and a 13'' screen on a laptop is a big size, 15'' is a bit of useless weight that you'll have to carry about, but the finally decision is up to you. Other than the size, the better reason to get a 13'' is a better battery life. Remember the bigger the screen, the more power it will need and more work for the graphics processor card/ship.

And personally for me the thing I look for when I buy a laptop is battery life, that's why I bought my EEE is can last on a full charge for 12 hours, with the wireless active. but I use Ubuntu Netbook Remix.

Anyway, I suggest the 13'' and spend extra $200 on something else that you might need.

Hope this helps

If it's 2GB RAM as standard then it might be cheaper to buy the extra 2GB and put it in yourself or pay someone a lot less to do it. I dunno, work it out.
